What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Lincoln Mkx, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
My 2007 Lincoln MKX was in Drive with the brake depressed waiting to back up into a traffic lane from an angled parking space in front of a small shop in our historic downtown area. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated forward at a high rate of speed jumping the shallow curb and slamming into the cement foundation of the store. Continuing to depress the brakes made no difference in stopping the jarring unintended forward motion. The speed moving forward was so high that in the 10-12 feet from the curb to the store entrance the impact demolished the entire front of the vehicle even bending the front axels. The airbags did not deploy at all. The witness interviewed, reported loud screeching tires as her back was to the scene during the collision. Local PD, EMS and Fire all responded, with a full police report filed. It was extremely fortunate no person was either on the sidewalk or in the entrance to the storefront. My injuries included severe bruising to the right side of my neck, as well as a hematoma on my right tibia and an oblique fracture to bones in my right foot. There were no passengers in the car with me. The accident, and extreme concern over the malfunction of the vehicle allowing it to take control away from myself as the driver, has been reported to Ford Lincoln and a claim number established. My insurance company took possession of the vehicle from the tow lot after three days after determining it was a total loss. To reiterate, there was no warning at all before the incident. I was simply waiting for traffic to clear, so I could put the vehicle from Drive into Reverse and pull out of the parking space.
The contact owned a 2007 Lincoln MKX. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, he dosed off and hit a tree. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was able to be driven back to his home after the accident. The contact sought medical treatment for an injury to his pelvis due to the accident. The vehicle was placed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000(Air Bags) but was never serviced. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was totaled. The failure mileage was approximately 240,000.
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2007 Lincoln MKX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer was waiting for approval from the manufacturer to perform other unknown repairs due to corrosion near the fuel tank. The vehicle remained unrepaired at the dealer for 28-days. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Lincoln MKX. The contact stated that there was a strong gasoline odor inside of the vehicle. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed with needing the fuel tank replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the Vin was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the Vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 260,000.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
My 2007 Lincoln MKX had an SUA and within 10 feet totaled the front end when it was thrust into a cement building. This happened On [XXX] and the vehicle is available for inspection here in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. In 2010 Lincoln implemented an override device to the brake system knowing of the problem and there was no recall for vehicles prior to 2010. My safety was put at risk and that of others. If someone had been exiting the store or walking down the sidewalk they could have been killed. I am suffering with physical and mental problems as a result of this. Police report also states this was definitely a vehicle malfunction. There were no warning signs prior to the incident. Claim has been filed with the Office of General Council at Lincoln, but remains unresolved to date. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS AGO, I HAD THE LOWER CONTROL ARM REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE, AS IT WAS FOUND TO BE FAULTY AND COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN REPLACED, I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD NOT EXPERIENCE ANY ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WITH IT. TODAY, I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE CONTROL ARM WAS FAULTY AGAIN AND NEEDS TO REPLACED. THIS TIME, IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IN READING MANY OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR, I NOTICE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE PARTS BEING USED. *TR

MY MKX HAS STALLED OVER THE YEARS AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT'S NORMAL. WELL, FOR THE FIRST TIME, I STALLED ON A HILL IN A PARKING LOT AND MY STEERING LOCKED AND BRAKES DIDN'T WORK. AS SOON AS I REALIZED I STALLED AND SLAMMED MY BRAKES, TRIED TO STEER AWAY FROM THE CAR BEHIND ME, IT WAS TOO LATE FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I SLAMMED INTO A BUSINESS ASSOCIATE'S SUV THAT WAS PARKED AND WE BOTH HAVE ABOUT 3K WORTH OF DAMAGE.

IN STATES WHERE ROAD SALT IS USED, FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN VEHICLES WHERE THE LICENSE PLATE LAMP ASSEMBLY MAY EXPERIENCE AN ELECTRO-CHEMICAL REACTION AND CORROSION AS A RESULT OF WATER INTRUSION. FORD'S LIST OF RECALLED VEHICLES APPEAR TO BE VERY NARROW. MY 2007 LINCOLN MKX (THREE YEARS PRIOR TO THE CURRENT RECALL LIST) HAS THE SAME PROBLEM - ONE OF THE 2 LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS IS CORRODED AND QUIT WORKING (IT WAS RUSTED AND FELL APART WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE IT). I EXPECT THE OTHER LIGHT ISN'T FAR BEHIND. IF THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF FIRE, THE CURRENT RECALL SHOULD WARRANT A CLOSER LOOK AT ADDING MORE VEHICLES THAT USED THIS COMPONENT. RE: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V285000 COMPONENT(S): EXTERIOR LIGHTING CONSEQUENCE: CORROSION MAY RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE. *TR
