Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The defect: Mahindra Tractor Assembly Inc. (Mahindra) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 GenZe 2.0 and Enterprise 1 scooters manufactured October 2, 2015, to July 11, 2016. The front forks of the affected scooters may not be properly tightened within the steering mounts and, as a result, the fork tubes may move affecting low speed maneuverability.
The risk: If the fork tubes move and affect the maneuverability or the turning radius of the scooter, it can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Mahindra will notify owners and new bolts and washers to ensure proper clamp force will be installed, free of charge. The recall began September 14, 2016. Owners may contact Mahindra customer service at 1-888-808-9526.

TAKATA RECALL I WAS A COURIER WITH THE POSTMATES PROGRAM FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS AND I WAS A NEW PARTICIPANT OF THE POSTMATES SCOOTER PROGRAM BACK IN MAY. ON THE AFTERNOON OF SATURDAY, MAY 13TH -DUE TO HEAVY RAIN, STRONG WINDS, AND POOR ROAD CONDITIONS -I ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH THE SCOOTER WHILE CONDUCTING ROUTINE POSTMATES DELIVERIES, WHICH WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE PAST 15 - 17 MPH AFTER SHOWING A YELLOW EXCLAMATION POINT ICON ON THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF THE TOUCH SCREEN. FURTHERMORE, I NOTICED THE SCOOTER BATTERY DRAINED MUCH FASTER THAN BEFORE AND THE TURNING SIGNALS FROZE IN PLACE. CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY ON THE ROAD, I DETERMINED THAT THE SCOOTER WAS UNSAFE TO RIDE AND I WAS FORCED TO STOP IN ORDER TO PREVENT A TRAFFIC COLLISION WITH THE ONCOMING VEHICLES. ON SUNDAY, MAY 14TH, I RETURNED TO THE LOCATION OF THE SCOOTER IN MANHATTAN WITH THE TWO BATTERIES, WHICH I MADE SURE THEY WERE OPERATIONAL AND CHARGED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE SCOOTER OWNER'S MANUAL. AFTER THAT, I PUT ON A FRESHLY CHARGED BATTERY AND OFF I WENT. THE SCOOTER OPERATED FINE UNTIL AROUND 10:30PM THAT NIGHT, WHILE EN ROUTE TO A DELIVERY DESTINATION. UNFORTUNATELY, THE SCOOTER MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN WHEN I WENT OVER A ROUGH PIECE OF ROAD DEBRIS DURING THE HEAVY RAIN IN LOWER MANHATTAN. THIS TIME, THE SCOOTER WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 15 MPH ALONGSIDE VERY FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. SINCE THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE ON A VERY BUSY STREET, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO A NEARBY BIKE LANE ADJACENT TO THE ROAD TO AVOID A POTENTIAL TRAFFIC COLLISION WITH ONCOMING VEHICLES. THIS WAS WHEN I WAS STOPPED BY A NYC PARKS ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WHO GAVE ME A $500 SUMMONS FOR UNLAWFULLY OPERATING A MOTORIZED SCOOTER ON THE BIKE PATH. I MENTIONED TO THE OFFICER THE NATURE OF THE INCIDENT AND THAT I FELT THE SCOOTER WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE IN A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS 35 MPH STREET ZONE WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC.

THE VEHICLE CHANGES DRIVING MODE BY ITSELF PERIODICALLY, AND THE DRIVING MODE ALSO STICKS PERIODICALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN FAST MOVING TRAFFIC AND UP HILLS. GENZE'S RESPONSE WAS TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD. THEY DID THAT TWICE BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. WE HAVE DISCUSSED IT BEING AN ISSUE WITH MOISTURE GETTING IN, BUT THEY HAVE NOT BE ABLE/INTERESTED IN FIXING THE PROBLEM.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
