The defect: McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2010-2024 Rear Loader vehicles. The license plate light was installed in the wrong location and may not fully illuminate the license plate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk: An improperly illuminated license plate reduces the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will relocate the light free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. Owners may contact McNeilus Customer Service at 1-888-686-7278.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing provides these instructions for replacing hardware on the front ejector shoes of a Rear Loader refuse vehicle in order to create greater clearance between the hardware and the ejector track. The potential clearance issue is specific to vehicles with hex head fasteners at the front lower and upper ejector shoes.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing provides these instructions for replacing the remote mount hydraulic pump CV drive shaft be replaced because the shafts may be too short and are suspect to disengaging. The hydraulic pump CV drive shaft can break or twist. A hydraulic pump CV drive shaft failure will affect hydraulic pump operation which controls refuse body functions and does not affect chassis driving functions. You must inspect the hydraulic pump CV drive shaft, even if you have recently replaced it.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc. states that making any changes to the eZR Low Voltage (LV) wiring system on Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) units have been shown to, in some instances, affect the ability of the system to properly charge. Typically, BEV systems rely on a complete sleep mode during charging; therefore, any changes that affect the ignition key-off state of the vehicle have been shown especially likely to impact the charging procedure.
