The defect: THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT LINKAGE ADJACENT TO THE ENGINE THROTTLE CONTROL CONTAINS A PLASTIC BUSHING THAT COULD DEFORM DUE TO HIGH ENGINE COMPARTMENT TEMPERATURES CREATED BY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
The remedy: PLASTIC BUSHINGS WILL BE REPLACED WITH STEEL BUSHINGS.
