2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC Owner Complaints

The contact owns a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number 26V073000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted; however the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

This urgent safety issue with the high voltage battery on the 2022 Mercedes EQB has been known to Mercedes since at least July 2025. As of May 15, mercedes tells me I will have a repair scheduled by December 30, 2026. They offer no explanation for the delay. This is unreasonable and unacceptable. I am requesting that the NHSTA inform Mercedes that they must do better to eliminate this known fire hazard, and inform me of the penalties you can impose on Meercedes if they do not complete this recall in a timely fashion.

Mercedes-Benz is taking 6 to 8 months to replace the high-voltage battery due to the recall mentioned below. Even after an 8-month wait, no guaranteed ETA is provided to resolve the issue. Due to the combination of certain production and use conditions, an internal short circuit of a battery cell in the high-voltage battery, might lead to a thermal event. Subsequently, an increased risk of a fire cannot be ruled out An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the high voltage battery. Customers will be instructed to charge their vehicle's battery to a maximum of 80% state of charge until the remedy is performed.Out of an abundance of caution, customers are additionally advised to park their vehicles outside. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the battery failed to charge properly. Additionally, while operating the vehicle, the message "High Voltage" was displayed. The vehicle was serviced under a previous recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000

We are currently under NHTSA Recall ID: 26V073 and Mercedes-Benz has not given us a reasonable timeline with which they intend to remedy the recall. We are currently unable to drive the car safely and unable to park the car safely without the risk of fire. To not have any answers as to when this recall will be remedied is unacceptable.

Mercedes previously issued a software update for the battery fire risk, but we have received a letter more than a year later stating that this fix was not adequate. We pursued a vehicle buyback due to the safety risk this presents to my family, and Mercedes vehemently stated that the issue was resolved and the vehicle did not qualify. The vehicle is an inherent risk to my family's safety if it may just catch fire at any time.

The contact owns a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that several unknown warnings illuminated. The MIL was illuminated, and the battery symbol was displayed. The messages “Reduced Drive System Performance" and "Towing not Permitted" were displayed. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed and stalled. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and several error codes for engine performance were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the dealer had retrieved the same error codes one week prior when the vehicle was taken to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V050000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
