2023 Mercedes-Benz Metris Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Metris, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

report

From owner reports, verbatim

This incident happened to an employee driving a mercedes metris for work. The metris was involved in a multi car accident. The driver reported that the steering wheel "took over" and would not let them maneuver out of the way to avoid a vehicle that had rear ended the vehicle in front of them. This accident took place at about 40mph and included multiple vehicles rear ending the vehicle in front of them. The metris was the third or fourth vehicle in a line of approximately 6 to 7 total vehicles. The air bags did not deploy, even though the vehicle was struck from the front and the back and the other vehicles involved had deployed air bags. The seatbelt also did not engage, causing the driver to hit their chest on the steering wheel every time another vehicle hit them
