1995 Mercury Grand Marquis Airbags Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the airbag system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Airbags reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I WAS BACKING UP AT A GAS STATION AND THE REAR TIRES STARTED TO SPIN AND THE CAR MADE A NOISE LIKE I RAN OVER A BUNCH OF TRASH CANS. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WENT FORWARD LIKE IT WAS SHOT OUT OF A CANNON. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP. I WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT, AND THE CAR WENT UP INTO THE AIR INTO A DITCH. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE DRIVER AIRBAG BURST OPEN AND TORE MY SHIRT TO SHREDS.I RECEIVED MULTIPLE CONTUSIONS ON THE UPPER CHEST, AND SEVERE CONTUSIONS TO THE LEFT BREAST. UNDER MY CHIN I RECEIVED CONTUSIONS AND BURNS.*AK
