1991 Mercury Tracer Seat belts Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the seat belt system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Seat belts reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

SHOULDER BELT TRACK AND CABLE FAILED, WE ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME GETTING THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS THE PARTS COMING BY ORDERING THEM FOR A NEWER CAR STILL UNDER WARRANTY. FORD HAS A SHORTAGE OF THESE PARTS AND IS SENDING THEM ONLY FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS. THIS MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LARGE NUMBER OF FAILING PARTS. WE WAITED TO GET THIS REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST OF THE REPAIR. *AK
