2008 Mitsubishi Fuso FE180 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2008 Mitsubishi Fuso FE180, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MITSUBISHI FUSO FE 180. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH OF 2008, THE VEHICLE'S DPF (DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTERS) INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE CONTROL PANEL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DPF INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 20 MPH. HE PARKED THE VEHICLE AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY FOUND AN ERROR CODE IN THE COMPUTER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL AFTER THE DPF AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATES. THE MANUFACTURER SENT A REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE REPRESENTATIVE ALSO STATED THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CONTACT DOES AN EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF LOW SPEED DRIVING, THE ENGINE BECOMES FLOODED WITH FUEL. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,126 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600. UPDATED 3/13/09 *CN THE AMBER REGENERATION LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE CEHCK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE OIL WAS 2 QUARTS OVER WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE OIL FILLING BEYOND ITS LEVEL. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THERE WAS EITHER A PROBLEM WITH INJECTORS OR THE EXHAUST ITSELF. UPDATED 03/17/09. *JB

HAD A BLOWOUT ON RIGHT REAR OUTSIDE TIRE ON VEHICLE (2008 MITSUBISHI FUSO FE145) NOTE: FE 145 WAS NOT AN OPTION TO SELECT FOR COMPLAINT). TRUCK WAS EMPTY COMING BACK FROM RUNS AND HAD NOT ENCOUNTERED ANY OBSTRUCTION ON ROAD PRIOR TO FAILING. YOKOHAMA HAD ALREADY PROVIDED A CREDIT FOR 2 TIRES PREVIOUSLY REPLACED ON OUR TRUCK THAT WERE DEFECTIVE. THIS BLOWOUT SHOWED EVIDENCE OF TREAD SEPARATION. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE REMAINING 2 TIRES ON TRUCK AND FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS WHO HAVE SAME TIRES. *TR
