2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Visibility Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the visibility system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Visibility reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and engaging the wipers, the wipers were operating slowly. The contact stated she received recall notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V103000 (Visibility) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. However, the dealer only replaced the rod of the wiper link instead of replacing both the rod of the wiper link and the wiper motor crank arm, free of charge, per the recall remedy notes. The contact stated that the wipers would stop working while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire windshield wiper arm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, AT NIGHT, IN THE RAIN, AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I TRIED EVERY SETTING TO NO AVAIL. I TRIED USING THE CLEANING FLUID (WHICH USUALLY TRIGGERS THE WIPERS) AND THE FLUID PUMPED, BUT THE WIPERS DIDN'T WIPE. THE REAR WIPER IS STILL WORKING. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND CHECKED THE FUSES, AND THEY ARE FINE. I TRIED TO MANUALLY MOVE THE WIPERS, AND THEY MOVED FREELY.

DRIVER SIDE FRONT POWER WINDOW MAKES THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL MAKE NOISE ANYTIME IT IS ROLLED UP. HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR ISSUES, IT ONLY REMAINS FIXED FOR A FEW CYCLES OF THE WINDOW. IT'S LIKE A CREAKING PLASTICY NOISE, NONE OF THE OTHER WINDOWS DO THIS. SEVERELY ANNOYING ON SOMETHING SO NEW WITH LESS THAN 7K MILES, AND EMBARRASSING WITH CUSTOMERS IN VEHICLE.
