2003 National Rv Ragen Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 2 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2003 National Rv Ragen. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

NOTICED THAT WHILE TOWING THE TRAILER THAT THE FRAME SEEMED TO FLEX AT THE FRONT, PUSHING THE KINGPIN UP INTO THE TRAILER, YOU CAN WATCH THE TRAILER FLEXING UP AND DOWN ON THE KINGPIN WHILE TRAVELING. TO CHECK FOR POTENTIAL CRACKS IN THE FRAME WELDS, WE RIPPED UP THE FLOOR UP FRONT UNDER THE BED, AND REMOVED THE ALUMINUM UNDER THE HANGOVER TO EXPOSE THE FRAME. WE FOUND MANY OF THE SCREWS HOLDING THE ALUMINUM ONTO THE FRAME UNDERNEATH HAD RIPPED THROUGH THE ALUMINUM FROM THE FLEXING, AND SOME OF THE ALUMINUM STARTED SEPARATING AT THE JOINTS. INSIDE, THERE ARE MARKS ON THE WALL ABOUT TWO INCHES HIGH FROM THE PLYWOOD SCRAPING THE WALL AS THE FRAME FLEXES UP AND DOWN. I KNOW OTHERS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THINK THE MANUFACTURER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS WIDESPREAD DEFECT. *TR

CONSUMER INDICATED THAT ON JUNE/13/2003 MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE DRAW BAR, FRONT HEADER ALUMINUM RACK GUARD, THE DRAW BAR FAILED WHILE DRIVING, DAMAGING THE FRONT HEADER DIAMOND PLATE. ALSO THE INTERIOR, SIX MONTH LATER THE DRAW BAR BROKE AGAIN, THIS TIME DEALERSHIP INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER WE ALREADY FIXED IT. *AK THE CONSUMER USED THE RV APRIL/MAY 2003 AND STARTED NOTICING IT WAS BOUNCING MORE THAN IT SHOULD. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE RV HAD BEEN PUSHED UP INTO THE FLOOR OF THE INSIDE. THE MECHANIC TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE FRAME THAT COULD NEVER BE FIXED. THE VEHICLE TRAILOR HITCH WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. THE FRAME UNDER THE TRAILER APPEARED TO BE PUSHING FRONT WALL AND FLOOR LOOSE. THE CONSUMER HAS FILED A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO PROVIDE THE CONSUMER'S WITH A REPLACE MENT RV BECAUSE THE REPAIRS MADE TO THE CHASSIS WERE NOT MADE BY A NATIONAL RV DEALER, THEREFORE THE WORK COULD NOT BE GAURANTEED. *TC

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
