2000 Navistar 9200I Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHEN THE PUMP STARTED ACTING UP, AT FIRST IT WAS JUST STIFF TO TURN OFF ROAD ON A JOB SITE, THEN ONE DAY IT JUST LOCKED UP AND WE ALMOST HIT A TREE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP, SAYING THAT INTERNATIONAL DOES NOT PUT A BIG ENOUGHT PUMP ON TO BEGIN WITH. A FEW DAYS AGO THE REPLACEMENT STARTED ACTING UP ON THE JOB SITES, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS ALSO BAD, IT TESTED TOO LOW OF PRESSURE, THE REPLACED IT TODAY WITH THE SAME MAKE/ MODEL PUMP. THE DEALER I TOOK IT TO THIS TIME SAID THAT HE HAS REPLACED SEVERAL OF THESE PUMPS. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN ABOUT 25,000 MORE MILES, AT 500 MILES A DAY, THAT WONT BE LONG. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, WHAT IF NEXT TIME I AM UNABLE TO CONTROL THE TRUCK AND HIT SOMETHING, OR KILL SOMEONE. WHEN IT GOES OUT YOU CAN NOT STEER AT ALL.*AK
