TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 1994 NEWMAR KOUNTRY AIRE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, SMOKE EMITTED INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT FURTHER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT A FIRE WAS ERUPTING NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES, BUT THEY WERE TOO INTENSE. THE POLICE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND A FIRE INSPECTOR WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES AFTER AN HOUR. REPORTS WERE FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A YARD. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE IF THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE ABLE TO INSPECT AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT WAS NOT NOTIFIED, THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V399000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE SAW SMOKE THROUGH THE SIDE MIRROR AND ALERTED HER HUSBAND TO STOP THE RV. WHEN THEY EXITED THE RV, THE LOOKED DOWN FROM THE FRONT AND THERE WAS LIQUID ON FIRE DRIPPING DOWN ON THE GROUND. IT WAS COMING FROM THE CENTER FRONT PART OF THE RV. THE CONSUMERS HUSBAND PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, FOR A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE FIRST STARTED AGAIN. IT TOOK THREE HOURS TO COMPLETELY CONTROL THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/12/15.*JB
