The defect: THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN THE MASTER CYLINDER DROPS SUFFICIENTLY TO ACTIVATE THE LOW LEVEL SWITCH DUE TO AN IMPROPERLY WIRED DIODE, REQUIRED BY FMVSS NO. 105, "HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEMS."
The risk: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: THERE WOULD BE NO INDICATION TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. LOW BRAKE FLUID CAN BE CAUSED BY A LEAK IN THE SYSTEM WHICH MAY RESULT IN PARTIAL OR COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES AND AN ACCIDENT.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL CORRECT THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FOR THE BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM SO THAT THE WARNING LAMP WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN THE LOW LEVEL SWITCH IS ACTIVATED.

THE VEHICLES FUEL TANK CRACKED AT MOUNTING STRAP AND STARTED LEAKING FUEL, THE TANK HAS A KNOW ISSUE AMONG OTHER OWNERS. THE TANK IS VERY SPECIFIC TO THE CHASSIS WITH NO AVAILABLE REPLACEMENT. THE ISSUE HAPPENS MOSTLY AT THE SAME LOCATION BUT NISSAN HAS SO SOLUTION. THIS HAPPENED UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 NISSAN 240SX. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL TANK FRACTURED AND LEAKED FUEL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE TROPHY WEST COVINA NISSAN LOCATED AT 205 N CITRUS ST, WEST COVINA, CA 91791, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TWO OTHER YEAR MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLES THAT HAD SIMILAR FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 187,750.

HI, IT IS VERY COMMON ON ALL MODELS 1995-1998 240SX FOR THE GAS TANK TO LEAK. DUE TO THE 2 STRAPS THE HOLD THE TANK IN PLACE CAUSING PRESSURE AND RUBBING IT CRACKS ALL OUR GAS TANKS. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN. IT HAPPENS ON ALL 1995-1998 240SX MODELS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO GET THIS FIXED AND RESOLVED. FILLED THE TANK ON MY WAY TO WORK AND BEGAN SMELLING GAS. UPON COMING OUT AT THE END OF THE DAY THERE WAS A LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS UNDER THE CAR. AT THIS POINT THE SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE CAR WAS UNBEARABLE. GOT THE CAR HOME AND FOUND FUEL LEAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE REAR WHEEL. LOOKING UNDER THE CAR AND FOUND FUEL STREAMING FROM THE FRONT PORTION OF THE FUEL TANK NEAR THE SUPPORT STRAP. IT APPEARS THAT THE TANK IS CRACKING IN THIS LOCATION. WITHOUT REMOVING THE TANK IT APPEARS TO BE A STRESS FRACTURE OF SOME KIND IN THE PLASTIC TANK. *TR

12 VOLT BATTERY TESTING FOR IN-SERVICE VEHICLES SERVICE INFORMATION The following Service Information lists NNA procedural recommendations for establishing good connections while performing 12V battery testing. These recommendations are expected to promote uniformity during the connection process, therefore reducing the number of incorrect “Test with DCA” and “Replace” results. HINT: If 12 volt batteries are allowed to discharge for a prolonged period of time, battery life may be drastically reduced. This condition may lead to premature battery replacement and customer dissatisfaction. IMPORTANT:  CPX-900 is now an accepted testing tool to use along with or in place of the DSS-5000  CPX-900 operating instructions are found at: https://nissancpx900.midtronics.com/  DSS-5000 operating instructions are found at: https://nissandss5000.midtronics.com/  DCA-8000 is now a required testing tool to be used for all warranty replacement decisions. The DCA-8000 is also a more efficient charger than previously available, and will charge any available 12 volt lead acid battery safely and accurately as long as all precautions and inputs are made correctly. To avoid the risk of death or severe personal injury, do not directly spray Silicone-based lubricant or grease, or inadvertently overspray Silicone-based lubricant or grease onto any interior electrical components. These types of lubricants can be detrimental to the proper operation of electrical components.
