2000 Nissan Crew Cab Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

2000 NISSAN FRONTIER CREWCAB SE, V6, 4WD. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. AFTER TOW TO GARAGE (NOT NISSAN DEALER), MECHANIC CHECKED FUEL PRESSURE, FOUND NONE AND DROPPED FUEL TANK. FUEL SENDER UNIT ASSEMBLY HAD CRACK/HOLE IN CONNECTOR FOR FUEL PUMP ELCTRICAL POWER AT FUEL TANK PENENTRATION. WIRING INSIDE OF ASSEMBLY WAS EXPOSED AND CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT FUEL PUMP FAILED TO OPERATE. MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT HE HAD SEEN THE SAME FAILURE IN ANOTHER NISSAN FRONTIER JUST A COUPLE MONTHS BEFORE SO THIS WAS THE FIRST AREA HE CHECKED. I STILL HAVE THE FAILED COMPONENT IN MY POSSESION AND CAN PROVIDE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS.
