What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1983 Nissan Maxima, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

AFTER CHECKING THE RECALL SECTION ON THE NHTSA WEB PAGE AND FINDING NO RECALLS FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, I DECIDED TO LOOK AT THE CONSUMER COMPLAINTS AND FOUND A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND NOTED IN THE TEXT OF OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATIONS ID # 808550 A RECALL #95I000600, AT WHICH TIME I CALLED THE HOTLINE AND WAS TOLD THAT IN SPITE OF HAVING A RECALL # , THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. MY QUESTION IS, HOW CAN THERE BE A RECALL # IF THERE IS NO RECALL? *MJS
