The rear brakes on my 2022 Nissan pathfinder are having unusual fast deterioration. I purchased the car at 13,000 miles and had to replace the rear brakes at 25,000 miles and now once again I am having to replace the rear brakes again at 52,000. This seems very odd since the front brakes have not needed replacement yet. I also have been advised to replace the rear calipers which are also very early for a car with 52,000.
First Incident- volume kept rising on its own. Would turn it down, it would go right back up. Would turn the radio off, it would turn on by itself and would keep rising until full blast. Vehicle was parked, came back from work, turned vehicle on and the volume was fine on it. Second Incident- (this has happened twice) about a month after the volume incident. This time the vehicle would accelerate by itself. No cruise control was on, vehicle would keep going faster and faster. First time this happened the vehicle needed to be towed, cops were involved. I finally was able to stop the vehicle at a red light (where it eventually broke down and would not start). Extended warranty covered the tow. There was no check engine light on. Replaced the battery as I was told the errors were pointing back to low voltage. After battery was replaced, maybe three weeks later the vehicle did the same thing on the highway again. Car speed kept increasing on its own, no cruise control or pedal input. Vehicle kept speeding. I took this vehicle to Moon Township, PA Nissan Cochran dealership and they could not replicate the issue. I have video proof the first time this happened where the vehicle kept increasing in speed without pedal input. I have two kids under the age of [XXX] , This is an unsafe vehicle and it has lost my trust completely. The extended warranty company for this vehicle said they can’t do anything since the dealership says no check engine light is on. Third incident- got into vehicle, turned the vehicle on and the parking brake would not release. The parking brake was never applied in the first place so I have no clue how or why it was on when I turned the vehicle on. I just recently called the dealership on this issue now (Moon Township, Nissan Cochran) and will see what they say. Again, no check engine light is present. My 2022 Nissan Pathfinder was purchased new and now has 27150 miles. On April 9 2026, I was having my summer tires installed and was told by the tire shop that the rear brakes were worn out and needed replacement. I contacted the Nissan dealership who quoted a cost of $570 for brake replacement. There was no warning lamps or other symptoms but there is only 3mm of brake pad left. Per the dealership, at 2mm the pads will begin grinding on the rotors. The vehicle has not been used to tow or used off road and the brake pads should last much longer then 27K miles. They, or the brake system components installed by Nissan, are obviously defective.
Vehicle has 65k miles on it and has already been through 2 sets going on 3 of brakes there has been maybe 6k miles put on it and the brakes are going and possibly rotors it feels like the brakes aren't fully releasing. I've seen alot of people complaing so I know its just not my imagination.it makes the vehicle seem like it takes longer to stop
The rear brakes are failing at unusually low miles with no indicator on the dashboard that they needed service. Basically we just started hearing a grinding noise. The Nissan dealer says this is normal for that vehicle, but I have never seen brakes begin to fail this soon under normal driving conditions and no indicators.
I have 44K miles and had to replace my rear brakes 4 times. I paid for them twice and Nissan covered the cost the first time when they ran out at 7K miles and the last time the replaced the rear brakes and rotors. There is something seriously wrong with the rear brake being undersized. I had a 2015 Pathfinder and on average got 41K per brake set.
The vehicle has just under 20,000 miles and when reversing is getting a high pitched squeak. There are a ton of online forums where other owners of a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder are stating they're being told that the rear brake pads are literally worn down to metal while the front brakes are perfectly fine. This is clearly a defect of some sort where the brake system should not be malfunctioning like this.
Very excessive brake wear causing numerous replacement of pads and warping rotors.
Since purchasing this vehicle new i have had several issues : - While driving on the highway the engine will switch into neutral -One time while pulling out of my drive way I got stuck in the middle of the road because it placed me in park for no known reason. - Sunroof Leaks, - Most recently at 93,000 miles my engine failed and I needed a full engine replacement. They didnt cover this replacement and left it in me to pay for the full replacement. (over $10K) - The Breaks needed to be fully replaced before $20,000.
Front brake calipers get hot and started smoking. During simple highway travel No hard bracing and cruise control set. I’m not sure if the issue is with the two front calipers themselves or with the master cylinder or some other components that would cause both front brake calipers do this at the same time!
The rear brake pads as well as the rear brake caliber on these model vehicles and brakes keeps going bad extremely fast. This car is only 2 1/2 years old and I’ve already had to spend $1100 on parts for brake calibers. It is a known fact that the manufacturer Does not have the parts in stock. They are back order for 2 to 3 weeks. This is extreme safety issue and can prevent for cars from operating and stopping safely it’s smoothly I’ve had to replace my rear brake pad four times within a year.
brake pads wearing prematurely, too many rattle noises in side cabin, moonroof water leak, hit and miss rear cross traffic alert, frequent infotainment system reboots, transmission shift to nutral while try to speed up.
At 42,000 my rear breaks failed. Needing to replace all components of my rear breaks. Now there is a national back order on parts which shouldn’t be a problem for this new of a vehicle.
The rear breaks wore off really fast at around 10,000 miles as well as all the tires. It was inspected and the mechanic said that it’s normal for the breaks in these cars to wear off quickly. I never recieved any warning lamps about the breaks needing to be changed.
My car jerks violently into first gear often. Slow acceleration. Exclamation mark inside a triangle warning light came on and my car wouldn't accelerate over tha 2 miles per hrs. When in park or at a stop light it idles roughly. Rear brakes have been prematurely expired. I have since replaced them

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while the wife was driving approximately 60 MPH and attempting the stop, the braking system malfunctioned and the vehicle did not stop or reduce speed while the brake pedal was being pressed causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of a second vehicle. During the crash, the collision avoidance system did not activate and the air bag did not deploy. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 38,600.
Rear brakes on Nissan Pathfinder are wearing unusually fast resulting in brakes failing and vehicle failing to stop. I have now had to pay to replace the rear brakes twice in less than 30k miles. Brakes should last 30-50k miles. Also I have not had to replace the front brakes once yet.
It appears the rear brake pads degrade over a short amount of usage. My vehicle currently has approximately 28,000 miles and I have had to replace the rear pads twice. Once at 13k miles and another at 27,500 miles. Car vibrates violently upon heavy braking. This seems to be a known issue with the manufacturer; however, no recalls have been issued.
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for a service appointment, the contact was informed that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that when the front brakes were applied, the rear brakes constantly made contact with the front brakes which caused the rear brakes to wear down, unusually faster. Additionally, the contact stated that the dealer agreed that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect within the design of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the repair fee for the rear brake replacement was refunded. The failure mileage was approximately 30,517. The VIN was unavailable.
At 24,000 miles my rear brakes already needs replacing but the front brakes pads are in great condition. All the tires on the outside almost smooth. The rest of the tires inside and center have plenty treads
Rear brakes prematurely failing via severely increased wear in the the 20k mile range. Confirmed by two dealers.
I have tried working with the dealer and Nissan on this issue, with no success. I don't know where else to turn because searching forums there are hundreds of posts from other Pathfinder owners reporting the same defects in their vehicles. I filed a complaint with Nissan Consumer affairs and they insist my issue is simply wear and tear of the vehicle, which is not acceptable. My 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, as well as hundreds others report that their vehicle are requiring new brakes as well as new tires within 20,000 miles of purchasing the vehicle brand new. When my dealer notified me of the issue I questioned them, to which they also recognized it wasn't right and something has been wrong since the re-design of this vehicle. They also said they can't do anything except recommend replacement, it has to be up to Nissan to acknowledge they have something faulty in the design or mechanics that is causing these components to go bad well below manufacturer specs. When contacting Nissan Consumer Affairs I attempted to explain to them that this wasn't normal, these systems should not be replaced within 20,000 miles of a new purchase. They however discounted me and said it was simple wear and tear, that's how it is. I find it hard to believe myself and hundreds of others who have purchased these vehicles should have to pay for these replacements when it's clearly a design or mechanical flaw from Nissan. I know this may not be the right department to go to, but I'm not sure where else to turn for help in getting Nissan to publicly acknowledge this.
Collision avoidance system engaged without warning forcibly stopping vehicle in the middle of highway traffic with no obstructions in front of vehicle. Rear Brake pads also wearing out at less than 30k miles. Pads went from 7mm to 2mm thickness between 5k mile oil change intervals. This lead to extreme rotor damage and replacement of rotors and pads.
The automatic collision breaking system light just came on. I turned it off and waited a while. I was fine for two days then came back on and stayed on. Took it to the dealer and they said I must have hit something because the sensors were not aligned. I explained I had hit nothing. There is no damage at all to the bumper. No accident reports no damage nothing but they insisted I “must have hit something.” Light when off again for about a day then came back on. Radio turns off and on randomly. Had an engine overheating after I turned the car on a 56 degree day.
