I am reporting a systemic safety defect regarding the rear Air Conditioning (AC) lines/hoses in the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The rear AC lines are prematurely corroding and leaking refrigerant, mirroring a previous recall Nissan issued for the front AC lines due to similar corrosion issues. On June 13, 2026 at approximately 86,000 miles, my vehicle's rear AC system failed due to a rotted, leaking line. This defect creates several critical safety hazards: 1. FLAMMABILITY HAZARD: The 2022 Pathfinder uses R-1234yf refrigerant, which is classified as an ASHRAE A2L mildly flammable gas. A rapid, uncontrolled leak of pressurized R-1234yf near hot exhaust components or electrical wiring creates an unmitigated vehicle fire risk. 2. TOXIC GAS EXPOSURE: If R-1234yf ignites or comes into contact with high heat, it thermally decomposes into hydrogen fluoride. This turns into highly toxic hydrofluoric acid upon contact with moisture, posing an immediate inhalation and chemical burn hazard to vehicle occupants and first responders. 3. OCCUPANT HEALTH RISK: Sudden climate control failure in extreme summer temperatures poses a risk of heat-related illness for vulnerable passengers, like children or the elderly, in the rear seats. 4. REPEATED DEFECT: Nissan previously acknowledged their factory AC lines were prone to premature corrosion but only recalled the front lines. The rear lines suffer from the exact same material or manufacturing defect. This is a widespread issue widely documented by numerous 2022 Pathfinder owners. I request that NHTSA open a safety defect investigation to expand the previous recall remedies before this visibility hazard causes a severe accident.

The rear brakes on my 2022 Nissan pathfinder are having unusual fast deterioration. I purchased the car at 13,000 miles and had to replace the rear brakes at 25,000 miles and now once again I am having to replace the rear brakes again at 52,000. This seems very odd since the front brakes have not needed replacement yet. I also have been advised to replace the rear calipers which are also very early for a car with 52,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at 7 MPH, the sunroof exploded outward. The sunroof cover was closed during the failure, preventing glass fragments from falling inside the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. Upon inspection, the contact became aware that the sunroof had exploded without impact. The vehicle was driven to the residence and was parked in the garage. The dealer was contacted and provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

Components Affected: STRUCTURE:SUNROOF | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | VISIBILITY/WIPER Description of Safety Hazard: My 2022 Nissan Pathfinder suffers from a severe, chronic manufacturing defect causing substantial water intrusion into the vehicle's cabin through the sunroof assembly during rainfall. To date, the manufacturer’s authorized dealership network has attempted to repair this exact leak three separate times and has failed to cure the defect. This unfixable water leak creates two distinct, critical safety hazards: 1. Electrical Failure/Fire Risk: Water actively flows into the headliner, pooling behind the dashboard and running down the A-pillars. This directly exposes critical safety electronics—including the side-curtain airbags, rearview mirror sensors, forward-collision camera arrays, and steering column electrical modules—to active moisture. This creates a severe risk of sudden, catastrophic electrical short-circuits, unintended airbag deployment, or sudden loss of safety assist systems while operating the vehicle at highway speeds. The vehicle is currently leaking for a fourth time. Because the manufacturer's certified network is entirely incapable of sealing the vehicle or curing this defect, the vehicle remains an ongoing safety hazard to its occupants and other motorists on the road.

Panoramic sunroof drains failed due to being pinched by headliner. Documented water leaking into vehicle at 6060 by dealership. Water coming in along the a pillar and roof. Vehicle has been in the shop 3 separate times for gurgling noise and roof leaks. Dealership had issues re-creating issue. It’s a known engineering defect by the manufacturer but no recall has been issued.

First Incident- volume kept rising on its own. Would turn it down, it would go right back up. Would turn the radio off, it would turn on by itself and would keep rising until full blast. Vehicle was parked, came back from work, turned vehicle on and the volume was fine on it. Second Incident- (this has happened twice) about a month after the volume incident. This time the vehicle would accelerate by itself. No cruise control was on, vehicle would keep going faster and faster. First time this happened the vehicle needed to be towed, cops were involved. I finally was able to stop the vehicle at a red light (where it eventually broke down and would not start). Extended warranty covered the tow. There was no check engine light on. Replaced the battery as I was told the errors were pointing back to low voltage. After battery was replaced, maybe three weeks later the vehicle did the same thing on the highway again. Car speed kept increasing on its own, no cruise control or pedal input. Vehicle kept speeding. I took this vehicle to Moon Township, PA Nissan Cochran dealership and they could not replicate the issue. I have video proof the first time this happened where the vehicle kept increasing in speed without pedal input. I have two kids under the age of [XXX] , This is an unsafe vehicle and it has lost my trust completely. The extended warranty company for this vehicle said they can’t do anything since the dealership says no check engine light is on. Third incident- got into vehicle, turned the vehicle on and the parking brake would not release. The parking brake was never applied in the first place so I have no clue how or why it was on when I turned the vehicle on. I just recently called the dealership on this issue now (Moon Township, Nissan Cochran) and will see what they say. Again, no check engine light is present. I am writing regarding the defective condition of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder (approx. 16,431 miles) purchased on Nov 10, 2025. With the onset of spring, the A/C system has failed, blowing only ambient air. This aligns with known manufacturer defects: Jump Tube Defect (PC899/PC939): Faulty seals causing refrigerant leaks. A/C Amplifier (NTB23-033A): Irregular airflow and spontaneous surges. Notably, I reported HVAC and mechanical concerns within the 90-day warranty period. On Dec 20, 2025, I notified the dealership of whistling sounds/airflow bursts and clicking noises in the steering system. Although technician dismissed these as "normal" at the time, reporting them within the warranty period preserves my right to repair. While previous issues (loose bolts/chassis vibration) were resolved, the HVAC irregularities persist. On April 18, 2026, I returned to report the A/C failure and was denied a complimentary diagnostic, despite the vehicle being sold in a defective condition. Requested Actions: Full Diagnostic: A comprehensive, no-cost inspection of the entire HVAC system. Complete Repair: Replacement of the condenser, jump tube, seals, A/C amplifier, and related components under dealer responsibility/manufacturer goodwill. System Service: Full evacuation and recharge of refrigerant to manufacturer specs. Confirmation that the vehicle is returned in fully functional and safe condition at no cost due It was reportes during warranty period.

FUEL FILLER TUBE LOWER SEAL IS LEAKING AND DTC P0456 IS STORED IN THE ECM IF YOU CONFIRM The vehicle has a visible leak with a smoke machine test coming from the fuel filler tube lower seal, AND DTC P0456 is stored as “Active”, “Past”, or “Pending” in the ECM. ACTION 1. Remove the supplied funnel from the rear of the vehicle or trunk. 2. Insert the funnel completely in the fuel filler tube and remove completely five (5) times. 3. Re-check the fuel filler tube lower seal with a smoke machine to determine visually if any leak is present. 4. If the fuel filler lower seal continues to leak, replace the fuel filler tube. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

STEERING WHEEL SWITCH BUTTONS INOPERATIVE, STICKING, OR NOT CLICKING WHEN PRESSED IF YOU CONFIRM The customer states that any of the steering wheel switch buttons are inoperative, sticking, or not clicking when pressed. ACTION Follow the SERVICE PROCEDURE to: 1. Remove the steering wheel assembly. 2. Replace the switch assembly on the steering wheel assembly. HINT: The switch assembly includes switches for both sides of the steering wheel. 3. Reinstall the steering wheel assembly. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing.
