What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2004 Nissan Titan, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle rolled forward, causing the vehicle to roll into a rock, and damaging the transmission. Additionally, the air bag warning lights illuminated, and the seat beats locked. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 180,000.
Purchased a used 2004 Nissan titan truck with lower miles. Rear axel exploded and burst into flames when driving down the freeway. (Bowling Green, Kentucky) We managed to pull off to the side of the freeway without hitting anyone. Fire dept was able to put the flames out. Didn't find any recalls about the Truck when we bought it. Now I have seen reports on line that this has happened to other consumers. Something needs to be done to warn consumers. We could have died. We could of hit others and killed them as well. Dealership has completed repairs and seen the defect. We have the damaged part. There were no prior warnings. Vehicle was inspected before the road trip to insure it was safe.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
Brakes - sitting at the used car dealership since 8.8.2025. The truck will not stop when the brakes are applied. If the vehicle does not stop when brakes are applied. Lives are at risk if they are hit or ran over. Inspected by a Nissan dealership, invoices are available. The Brake Booster is no longer manufactured by Nissan. No repair is available. Unknown. No accidents have occurred due to this, we are in fear of our safety to drive it. The Sales manager at the dealership disconnected the ABS. We purchased this vehicle on 6.23.2025. The Brakes were not working within driving this vehicle for less than 3 weeks. We have made a formal complaint to the dealership. Taken it to a certified Nissan Dealer. The dealership we purchased this truck from has ignored every request we have made. We hired an attorney here in St. George, UT. The dealership has not replied to our Attorney. This Vehicle is NOT SAFE to be driven on the roads. We would like to know what the safety measures are in place for a USED vehicle dealership to sell an AS-IS-VEHICLE. Please see that I have attached all of our documentation we have provided to the State of Utah, our Attorney and to the Motor Vehicle Division of the State of Utah. A persons safety in their vehicle is a must.
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving 5-10 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and pulsated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly stall with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact performed a diagnostic test and determined that the engine control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V517000 (Engine). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 255,000.
My Titan is a 4 door not 2, also I am not sure if these recalls I saw are related to the problems I am having but my light indicator (as in the pictures I provided) has come on twice I immediately turn it off and I wait for the engine to cool it gets really hot but it doesn't indicate any over heating on the dash indicators (it might just be me but it seems hot enough to be overheating) and once cooled i check the fluids and refill the oil as needed (coolant level been fine) but this has happened to me now 2 times in a 3 day period so I believe there is a leak. Also about my shifter I'm not sure if this applies but I have the shifter you can switch to manual (I've never switch to manual bc I don't know how to drive manual) but I have an issue with it just in automatic sometimes when I shift from park to drive it doesn't seem to switch from park to drive and the vehicle stays in the parked position while the shift is in drive and I have to shift back to park wait a second and then shift back into drive a second time before I get the truck into driving mode. I added some pictures of recalls that are for my year make and model truck that seem like the same issues I'm dealing with and wasn't sure if they applied to my vehicle and just got missed with the amount of owners it's had
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and descending a hill, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floor. The contact stated that she pumped the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond immediately. The contact then used the gear lever to shift to neutral(N) and then to park(P) and the vehicle stopped. The contact then turned the vehicle off. The contact stated that prior to the brake failure the instrument panel lights had started to flash on and off. The contact restarted the vehicle, and the brake functionality returned. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had gradually become more frequent. The contact stated that the brake failure and instrument panel lights malfunction occurred three times in one day. The contact had been unable to schedule an appointment with a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,290.
WHILE DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES AND I'D SAY 25 MILES PER HOUR, MY TRUCK JUST STALLS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WORKING, BUT NO ENGINE POWER! THE TRUCK JUST STOP RUNNING. IN MY ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE ENGINE THE STARTER WILL TURN BUT NO START. I AM NOW STRANDED IN TRAFFIC AND IF IT WAS NOT FOR GOOD SAMARITANS WHO HELP ME PUSH THE TRUCK TO THE CURB. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. I'VE REPLACED MY BATTERY AND IT DIED FOR SECOND TIME! THANKFULLY I WAS ON THE CITY STREET BOTH TIMES. BOTH TIMES I WAITED AWHILE TRIED TO START UP WITH NO SUCCESS, BUT IT STARTED ONLY AFTERWARDS GETTING A JUMP START!? THE BATTERY IS BRAND NEW AND THE HOPE OF FINDING THE ANSWER IS WEBSITES AT LEASE IN THE HOPES OF SOME ANSWER AND DIRECTIONS. EVE SINCE REPLACED THE BATTERY I'

Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
I was driving down a main road by my office, accelerating when the car suddenly stalled. As the truck was independently decelerating, the steering wheel became hard to steer due to the truck being "off". I managed to force it to turn to a shoulder so as to not get rear ended by vehicles behind me. I could've been on the highway with traffic speeds up to 70mph and it would've been a different scenario. I later found out that the 1/4 fuel on the gauge was faulty and I was out of gas. I went to the NHTSA website to find out 2005 model Titans were included in the recall but not my 2004.
1/ I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN TRUCK JUST SHUT DOWN . FUEL GAUGE READS THAT TRUCKHAS 1/4 TANK LEFT OF FUEL BUT GAS TANK EMPTY. 2/ WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR LIKE IT HAS NO BRAKES. I CHECK THE FLUIDS AND ITS FULL. TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND ON AND IT WORKS AGAIN . *TR

Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
Vehicle was purchased and air bag light was on. Dealership did not disclose any safety issues. When brought to my mechanic found broken wiring in airbag harness and driver's side airbag was not functioning and risk of deployment at any time. Also open recall on driver's side airbag
Airbag warning light is blinking.

2004 NISSAN TITAN SE TRUCK. REAR AXLE SEAL LEAK. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN TITAN LE 4X4 ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO. I AM THE 2ND OWNER AND BOUGHT IT FROM A GUY WHO BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN 2004 AND TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF IT. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 55K MILES. JUST LAST WEEKEND, 6/19/2011, IT STARTED MAKING BANGING AND GRINDING NOISES IN THE BACK WHEEL. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT I RAN OVER SOMETHING AND IT WAS STUCK IN THE BACK WHEELS. AFTER EXAMINING THE REAR WHEEL AREA AND THE BRAKE PADS, EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL. HOWEVER, THE NOISE GOT LOUDER AND LOUDER. IT SOUNDED LIKE I WAS DRAGGING A REFRIGERATOR. I FELT A STUTTER IN THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED TO STRUGGLE TO GO WHEN I WOULD PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE. I ASSUMED THE BRAKE CALIPERS MAY HAVE BEEN JAMMED AND BROUGHT IT INTO AN AUTO SERVICE CENTER TO BE EXAMINED. ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER, I WENT BACK TO THE SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN TOOK ME TO GO SEE THE PROBLEM. THEY EXAMINED THE REAR BRAKES AND DIFFERENTIAL AND FOUND NUMEROUS LARGE CHUNKS OF BROKEN METAL INSIDE, WHICH SHE SAID WERE PIECES OF SHOES, HARDWARE, AND GEARS. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND THAT THE GEAR DAMAGE HAD LIKELY CAUSED A CHAIN REACTION DAMAGING THE ENTIRE LEFT REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AND E-BRAKES. THE REAR AXLE SEALS WERE LEAKING TOO ONTO THE WHEELS. ALL THESE PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE REAR AXLE. THE SERVICE SHOP QUOTED ME $3800 TO GET THIS FIXED! I WAS IN SHOCK AS I JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK. OF COURSE, I COULD NO LONGER DRIVE THE TRUCK EITHER AS IT WAS IN PIECES AND NOT DRIVABLE. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? I DON'T HAVE THIS MONEY. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TELL THE SERVICE SHOP TO GO AHEAD WITH THE REPAIRS AND I WILL JUST HAVE TO PUT IT ON A CREDIT CARD. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND WENT ON TO SEVERAL INTERNET SITES FOR NISSAN TITAN OWNERS TO SEE IF OTHERS WERE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS OR IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS. AFTER READING PAGES OF ENTRIES POSTED BY OTHER TITAN OWNERS, I FOUND OUT I WAS NOT ALONE. NISSAN NEEDS TO HELP PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS! *KB
Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.

Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
I purchased this truck on 04/05/18 from Harbor motors Lihue Kauai, and not even a week into having this truck it started acting up, overheating, the truck wouldn't turn over, suspensions, the four-wheel-drive wouldn't disengage, when you turn the key to start the vehicle it would make a clicking noise before starting, the AC would work when it wanted to, and the transmission and engine started knocking. The next week I went running errands and when I pulled out of my yard the truck started jerking then pressed the gas and it revved really high before slamming into drive. Since then I haven't driven the truck. And today it looks like someone just smashed into the front driver light to the side and smashed it while being parked at the place I purchased the truck from. I've continuously asked for help with little to no help at all. The truck is no longer drivable and I'm still making payments on it. The lights on the dashboard has the Check enigine light on, snd the ABS
DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FREEZES AND NO DOOR CAN BE OPENED. TRUCK WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT OUTSIDE. DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE, IF ENTRY IS GAINED DOORS CAN BE OPENED FROM INSIDE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO RETRACT WHEN PROMPTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTROL PANEL BECAME INOPERATIVE AND COMPLETELY LOST POWER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE INTERMITTENT AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE SINCE 2011. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.

LEAKING AXLES SEALS AFTER MULTIPLE REPLACEMENTS AND INCIDENTS ON ROAD. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF REPORTS FOR THIS ISSUE AND AXLE OVERHEATING. VEHICLE AXLE BROKE NEAR BEARING GOING 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY WITH NO WARNING TWO WEEKS AGO 9/10/2019 THERE IS STILL NO SAFETY RECALL.
I WENT IN TO GET A TRUCK ON JULY 11TH... THEY HAD TO GET THE TRUCK STARTED BY JUMPING THE BATTERY THAT THEY SAID WOULD BE REPLACED. WHILE RUSHING US WITHOUT OFFERING A TEST DRIVE INSURRING THE TRUCK WAS SOUND AND MECHANICALLY STABLE. WE THEN DROVE OFF IN THE 2004 NISSAN TITAN AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER. VRD ABS AND BRAKE AS WELL AS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE BRAKES THEN WENT OUT ON US AS WE REACHED OUT HOME. THE NEXT DAY WE INFORMED THEM OF WHAT HAPPENED, THEY SAID IT WAS JUST WATER ON THE BRAKES TO GIVE IT A DAY AND SEE WHAT IT DOES. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK THEY SAID THE MECHANIC WAS GONE TO COME BACK. THATS WHEN WE NOTICED THE CARA REGISTRATION WAS FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE AND STARTED TO WONDER IF THEY HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO EMMISIONS AT ALL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OM SINCE WE LEFT THE LOT. BEFORE OUR FIRST PAYMENT I SPENT $900 ON PARTS HAD ROADSIDE CALLED 4 TIMES AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE TRUCK DIDNT LAST TO THE FIRST PAYMENT. COMPLETELY LOST ALL BRAKING POWER. THIS TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC THAT TOLD US IT WOULD NOT HAVE PASSED EMISSIONS WHEN WE GOT IT BECAUSE THE HISTORY ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOWED IT WAS ONLY CLEARED AND NOT ADDRESSED.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
MY VEHICLE IS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN PICKUP TRUCK AND WHEN I'M DRIVING AND I START TO SLOW DOWN TO STOP WHEN I GET ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR IT WANTS TO SPEED UP REAL FAST ON ME AND I'M TRYING TO STOP AT WHEN IT'S DOING IT WHEN IT DROPS DOWN TO 25 IT DOES IT AGAIN AND THEN AGAIN AT 5 OR 10 MILES AN HOUR DOES IT IS VERY VERY VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF ALMOST WRECKED SEVERAL TIMES IT'S SO BAD THAT IT'S MESSED UP MY BRAKES BECAUSE NOW MY MY PADS ARE MAKING NOISES ROTORS IT DOES IT EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU DRIVE THE VEHICLE
WHILE DRIVING VCD LIGHT COMES ON AND MY TRUCK WILL NOT GO INTO PASSING GEAR. EXPECTLY WHILE TAKING. CANNOT USE BACK POWER WINDOWS ALSO.
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
MY HUSBAND COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY RECALLS. TWO DAYS AGO MY HUSBAND WAS GETTING IN THE TRUCK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE DASH BOARD AND A FIRE WAS STARTING. HE IMMEDIATELY RAN IN THE TRUCK STOP STORE AND WAS ABLE TO GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. ANOTHER CUSTOMER UNHOOKED THE BATTERY AS MY HUSBAND DISTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE TRUCK WILL NOT START AND WHEN TRYING TO TEST IT OUT BY RE-ATTACHING THE BATTERY THE SMOKE BEGAN AGAIN. WE ARE NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND HAD TO GET THE TRUCK TOWED HOME.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN OVER SEVERAL MONTHS THAT MY DRIVER SIDE DRIVE AXLE FOR MY 4X4 HAS PULLED ITS SELF OUT. IT WAS FIXED ONCE ON MY DIME AND IS NOW GOING TO BE FIXED ON MY DIME AGAIN IT IS A DANGEROUS FAILURE THAT COULD CAUSE MY SUSPENSION TO LOCK UP AN RIP MY WHEEL OFF THEN LEADING TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND THE NHTSA HAS DONE NOTHING TO PURSUE THIS. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT NISSAN WILL NOT COVER IS THE REAR AXLE SEALS THAT BLOW OUT DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN WHICH MAY ALSO LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, THEY WILL NOT ADDRESS ANY OF THESE ISSUES UNDER A RECALL AN THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT ARE SUFFERING FROM THESE ISSUES FROM 04-010 FOR THE AXLE SEALS AND MODEL YEARS 04-08 FOR THE AXLE SHAFT PULLING OUT FROM THE 4X4 CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE TO INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PARTS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AN THE NHTSA IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE IS PRESENTLY BEING HELD BY THE HWY PATROL. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN FOR BRAKE REPAIRS 7 TIMES AND WAS RELEASED TO THE CONTACT SAYING THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. PRIOR TO THE CRASH THE BRAKES HAD FAILED IN OCTOBER AND THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT HE BELIEVED THAT THERE WAS STILL SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND WAS FIRED FROM HIS POSITION. DURING PRIOR FAILURES, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAS REPORTED THE FAILURES TO NISSAN WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 83,000. THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAIN THAT THE CONTACT HAS FILED. I NOTICE OIL ON THE REAR TIRES AND RUNNING INTO THE REAR ROTOR WHICH COULD LEAD TO BREAKING FAILURE. MY MECHANIC SAID THE REAR AXLE SEALS AND PINION SEAL WERE BAD SO I HAD THEM REPLACE RIGHT AFTER I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 30,000 AND JUST NOW I GOT NEW TIRES AND THAT'S WHEN I FIND OUT IT'S BEEN LEAKING ALL THIS TIME NOW WITH 104,000 MILES. LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 04 NISSAN TITAN. NO RECALL... *TR
REAR SEALS ON MY TITAN LEAKED ALL OF THE FLUID OUT. I HAD FILLED MY TIRES WITH AIR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE AND NOTICED NOTHING. ALL OF THE GEAR OIL WAS GONE. *TR
Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
ON MAY 3, 2012, I SAW MY SIDE MIRROR LIGHTS WERE NOT TURNING OFF, EVEN WHILE DRIVING. I SCHEDULED WORK FOR MY TRUCK FOR MAY 5, 2012. MY TRUCK WAS PARKED AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT FROM AROUND 6 AM TO 2 PM ON MAY 3, 2012. WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE WORK I TRIED TO START MY TRUCK AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER, TRIED TO JUMP START WITH NO SUCCESS AND EVEN HAD A TOW TRUCK COMPANY ATTEMPT TO START THE TRUCK. AFTER THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP THE TRUCK STARTED UP WITH NO PROBLEM AND THE MECHANIC SAID SINCE ITS NOT SHOWING ANY ISSUES THAT IT DID BEFORE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. ON MAY 5, 2012 I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THEY ALSO FIXED A RECALL WITH THE ECM RELAY. ON THE SAME DAY AROUND 6 PM IN THE AFTERNOON THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON MAY 6, 2012 AND ON MAY 7, 2012 THE TECHNICIANS AT NISSAN CONTACTED ME STATING IT WAS MY BCM WHICH WAS IN THE SAME AREA AS THE ECM. I HAD TO PAY ABOUT 600 DOLLARS FOR A NEW BCM. I BELIEVE THE BCM WENT OUT DUE TO THE RECALL WORK THAT WAS PERFORMED EARLIER. *TR
I LIVE IN THE COLD NORTHEAST AND HAVE TO WARM MY VEHICLE BEFORE I DRIVE TO WORK. MY TRUCK IS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN SE WITH 79K MILES ON IT. I BRUSHED THE VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED IT TURNING THE DEFROSTER TO HIGH AND TURNING ON THE SIDE MIRROR DEFROSTERS AS WELL. I WENT BACK INSIDE TO GRAB THE REST OF MY STUFF FOR WORK AND WAS INSIDE FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. WHEN I CAME BACK OUTSIDE I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY TRUCK ON FIRE. FIRE ENGULFED THE DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR AND THE DRIPPING PLASTIC WAS BURNING UP THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK. I RETURNED INSIDE AND GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE FIRE OUT. LUCKILY MY VEHICLE WAS FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THE GARAGE AS TO NOT BE A CONCERN AS TO BURNING DOWN MY HOUSE. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THE MIRROR DEFROST SWITCH WAS STILL ACTIVE AND HAD NOT TRIPPED ANY FUSES. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. THIS JUST HAPPENED THIS MORNING AND I HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE TROUBLE AS YET. THE MIRROR OF COURSE IS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND THE PAINT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS DAMAGED. I AM WRITING THIS OUT OF CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC AS THIS COULD HAVE EASILY EVOLVED INTO A FULL BLOWN HOUSE FIRE. *TR
