2023 Nissan Titan Problems

"(NHTSA Recall 22V-681): Affects 2020 - 2023 Titan ...trucks, Where the vehicle may not stay in park, increasing crash risk. Owners are advised to use the parking brake every time they park'" I brought my Nissan Titan to Wallace Nissan in Stuart, Florida because I have had the Titan roll down my driveway when the parking pawl did not engage. I pulled into my driveway and placed the vehicle in park. As I checked to make certain I had necessary paperwork for an appointment I had with the Veterans Administration, the vehicle rolled back almost into the road. I was looking down at my paperwork; my wife noticed the vehicle rolling. On another occasion, the vehicle was put in park, so I could run into the house. The vehicle rolled back and the door bumped into me. Now, I make certain to use the parking-brake, but this is a major safety issue. I looked the issue up and found the NHTSA information above in a Google Search. I scheduled an appointment at 10:30 a.m. on 2/18/2026. When I arrived I was issued a claim check XXX by a Wallace Nissan Service Technician, and was told I would have to pay to have this recall issue fixed and I would have to leave the Titan Pickup for the repair. Strangely, a manufacturing quality problem requires the vehicle to be left for an undetermined time, and no loaner vehicle is provided by the manufacturer while they make the recall repair. The transmission has issues when temperatures drop below 5 Fahrenheit. Specifically if the outside temperature drops below 5 the transmission does not engage gears correctly and results in sluggish acceleration, erratic RPMs and poor fuel economy. To be clear this is NOT with cold starting the vehicle. This is documented instances of the vehicle after sufficient driving time to warm up. I have documented multiple instances of the vehicle having the erratic RPMs and sluggish acceleration when the temperature drops to below 5. Each documented instance is after driving for a period of time (I note this to again document the vehicle is warm and not a cold start). During these drives the outside temperature drops and goes below 5 degrees during the drive at which point the vehicle begins having the sluggish acceleration and erratic RPMs. To reiterate and ensure it is clear. The vehicle is warmed up. It is not a cold start concern. I keep reiterating this because each time I raise the concern to Nissan and the dealer they simply say it is cold, this issue occurs after sufficient time for the vehicle to warm up. This is being raised to NHTSA because when it is happening the sluggish acceleration leads to general drivability issues, along with the erratic RPMs result in substantial loss of MPG. When it occurs gas mileage drops to generally about 8mpgs at best far below the rated MPG of the vehicle and normal driving characteristics.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for tire repairs and was advised that an alignment was needed. The contact stated that the vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was determined that the alignment could not be performed because the required bolts were missing. The alignment was not completed, and the vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed that the vehicle was sold with the missing parts. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

Bought my 2023 Nissan Titan Pro-4x from dealership May of 2023. Never been involved in a collision. So there should be no reason it feels as if something is loose on the underside. There have been similar reports of this vibration/shaking such as this one: “Nissan Titan Pro-4X 4WD was bought new from dealership. Have had issues with the truck downshifting hard when slowing down since purchase. The truck lurches forward under 5MPH - 10MPH and feels like you are being rearended by another vehicle. Identical issue to NHTSA complaints 11578467 and 11539769.” I have also had it happen once so far. I have been driving no more than maybe 10MPH and it recognized something in front of the sensor and the truck slammed on the brakes to a stop. Mind you I was in an empty parking lot. On long drives, my forward collision sensor will randomly illuminate for no reason. It was do it in all season but more frequently in the winter. I used to own a 2017 Nissan Titan SV. Never once had an issue. I’m not sure what’s going on with Nissans quality control but this is insane. I would honestly like some sort of remedy before I have no other choice than to trade the truck in..

I have a 2023 Nissan Titan XD 4x4. Recently I have experienced a major malfunction with the automatic braking system. While driving the vehicle I have experienced several times that the front left wheel is locking up briefly and pulling me sharply to the left. I have almost slid into other vehicles and guardrails during this malfunction. I immediately brought it to my local Nissan dealer,(Coggin Nissan) in Jacksonville Fl. and reported the problem on three occasions. They offered no findings or solutions to correct the problem. They take it for a short test drive and state everything is working properly. I explained this is a random problem and usually occurs when taking right hand curves and has caused me to lose control of the vehicle. Nothing has been done by the dealer to remedy the problem though most online forums point to a wheel speed sensor. I have also relayed that when its raining and this happens the front crash detector symbol illuminates briefly and I've shown them a picture taken from my cell phone. I feel any further driving of this vehicle puts myself, my family and other drivers at risk.

The contact owned a 2023 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving in stop-and-go traffic, the contact allowed a vehicle to make a left-hand turn. When the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated independently and rear-ended the vehicle in front, where it came to a stop. The vehicle the contact rear-ended was pushed into the vehicle in front, and that vehicle was pushed into the vehicle in front of it. No warning lights were illuminated. The driver-side air bag deployed; however, the steering wheel cover popped out, and the air bag did not inflate, falling onto the contact's lap. The knee air bag did not inflate, and the passenger-side air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered minor injuries to the neck, possibly whiplash. The contact had a prior medical condition related to his back. A police report was filed. There were no passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The insurance company was contacted and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The insurance company referred that contact to the manufacturer. Nissan consumer affairs was made aware of the failure and suggested that the contact tow the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. However, Nissan consumer affairs contacted the dealer and ordered that the vehicle not be inspected. The vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated that three weeks before the accident, while driving 20 MPH uphill, the vehicle jerked. Once the vehicle made it up the hill, the vehicle resumed functioning as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that six months before the incidents occurred, the contact clipped a crossing deer, and the check engine light illuminated and was still illuminated up to the accident. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

I heard an audible rattling sound at certain RPMs primarily underload. Upon looking under the vehicle found the issue was the result of the exhaust hangars not being torqued properly and coming loose. The exhaust hanger just behind the transmission had loosened so much that one bolt fell out entirely. Picture provided notice one bolt missing.

I currently have a 2023 Nissan Titan Pro-4X 4WD that intermittently when slowing to a stop between the speeds of 0-7mph it will, at times, feel as though the transmission is dropping from 3rd gear to 1st gear without cycling into 2nd gear properly creating almost a bumping effect to where it feels like you are almost being bumped from behind. Like being rear-ended at a very slow speed. There is a difference in slowing to a stop and it cycles properly which this truck will do the majority of the time and then when it does this hard skipping of the gear and feeling like it is being bumped. I have taken it to the dealership on numerous occasions and reported the concern and let them know that it feels that on the occasions that it shifts hard into that bump it will move forward a bit and that I do not feel comfortable that it may not be an issue with the brakes as well. The dealership has not been able to replicate it to the extent that we are reporting it because it can be so intermittent, and you would need to drive it a bit see when it happens that they keep telling us that they cannot replicate it and it is fine. They had a Nissan engineer come take a look and he could not replicate the exact "bump" feel so he said it is normal and said go ahead and drive it. I have had others in the vehicle, a salesman at the dealership, and others that have driven trucks before, and I have had numerous Titans prior to this one and none have ever done this and other say the same thing that this is an issue and likely with the transmission. I reached out to another mechanic, and he stated that it sounds like it definitely could be an issue that needs to be looked at and could cause a safety risk to myself or others if something happens and does not allow the vehicle to properly slow down or shift into gear properly. The dealership continues to tell me that since they cannot replicate the issue to just drive it. I have towing off.

purchased this vehicle new 4/3/23.specidically purchased this truck for towing as it has the built intergated goose neck for a 5th wheel attachment. recently attempted to put the fifth wheel in to tow our camp trailer, it would not drop down far enough and lock on place on the truck, contacted the dealer and as well took the truck to 4 different businesses that specialize in hitches, only to advised by everyone that there is a factory defect in the trucks system with it being installed too high when holes were drilled thru the frame, the truck is not repairable for towing a fifth wheel or goose neck trailer and if towed as is could break loose causing a accident. it is a extreme safety if this is also occuring on other trucks and less experienced people do not have the knowledge to check things out.
