TEAM ONE AUTO AT 12899 GARRETT HIGHWAY IN OAKLAND, MARYLAND (PHONE: 301-334-9494) SELLS THE OREION MOTORS REEPER LOW-SPEED MOTOR VEHICLE. OREION MOTORS IS LOCATED AT 331 ACADEMY DRIVE, CORRALES, NEW MEXICO 87048 (PHONE: 505-916-1206). THE OREION REEPER'S ENGINE IS MOUNTED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE, DIRECTLY BEHIND AND BETWEEN THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION STICK FORWARD THROUGH A LARGE OPENING IN THE STEEL ENGINE FIREWALL BETWEEN THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND THE ENGINE. THERE IS NO FIRE-PROOF SAFETY COVER OVER THE ENGINE FIREWALL OPENING. ALL THAT SEPARATES THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS FROM THE ENGINE IS A FLIMSY PIECE OF PLASTIC WITH A VERY LOW MELTING TEMPERATURE. IF THERE WAS EVER AN ENGINE FIRE IN THE VEHICLE THE CENTER CONSOLE COVER WOULD MELT ALMOST INSTANTLY, A RUBBER GASOLINE HOSE ATTACHED TO THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE MIGHT ALSO MELT AND THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS COULD SUFFER SEVERE BURNS AS A MELTED FUEL HOSE WOULD SQUIRT FUEL DIRECTLY INTO THE DRIVER / PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE REAL QUESTION: WHY IS THE COVER OVER THE ENGINE FLIMSY PLASTIC INSTEAD OF STEEL? THIS PICTURE SHOWS THE OPENING DIRECTLY NEXT TO WHERE THE SEATS WOULD BE INSTALLED AND ILLUSTRATES THE DESIGN DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD WELL: HTTP://IMG901.IMAGESHACK.US/IMG901/1157/KAOHPF.JPG
