1991 Oshkosh MC18FG Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THE VEHICLE, A 1991 SAFARI SERENGETI (M3450), WAS RECENTLY PARKED WITH A REDUCED LOAD ON THE DRIVE AXLE (BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT LEVELING JACK PARTIALLY EXTENDED). WHILE PERFORMING OTHER SERVICE WORK, A SIGNIFICANT (SOFTBALL-SIZED) BULGE WAS NOTICED ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE INNER RIGHT REAR TIRE ON THE RV. TIRES (ALL 6) HAVE EVEN TREAD WEAR, LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THEM, AND WERE MANUFACTURED WITH DATE CODE 4903--THEY SHOW NO SIGNS OF DRY-ROT/CRACKING/WEATHER EXPOSURE. IF THE VEHICLE WERE DRIVEN WITHOUT THIS FAILURE BEING NOTICED, A BLOWOUT WOULD BE EXPECTED IN SHORT ORDER, WITH ASSOCIATED LOSS OF CONTROL POSSIBILITIES AND OVERLOADING OF THE REMAINING RIGHT REAR TIRE. *JB
