2008 Piaggio GTS 250 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

THE HEADLIGHT LENS (THE PLASTIC COVER) MELTED FROM THE HEAT OF THE BULB. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THAT PROBLEM. THERE ARE PEOPLE ON EBAY SELLING HEADLAMPS FOR PARTS THAT HAVE MELTED LENSES. I ASKED PIAGGIO TO REPLACE IT AND THEY SAID NO. THE HEADLIGHT, OBVIOUSLY A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE, HAS A SERIOUS DESIGN DEFECT. IT IS NOT DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND THE BULB'S HEAT. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SELLING VEHICLES WITH MELTING HEADLIGHTS. AGE IS IRRELEVANT. THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED THE DAY I DRIVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE SHOWROOM. IF THE HEADLIGHT DOES NOT WORK WITH THE BULB SUPPLIED WITH IT -- IT DOES NOT WORK. PERIOD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY YEARS, AND HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A HEADLIGHT MELTING. THE MOTORCYCLE IS WELL CARED FOR, ONLY USED TO GO ON SHORT TRIPS TO THE TRAIN STATION AND IS STORED IN A GARAGE. ALL OF WHICH POINTS TO A DESIGN DEFECT. I DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS HAPPENED BUT I NOTICED IT LAST WEEKEND 11/17/19
