The contact owns a 2024 PJ Trailer LD. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V857000 (Tires); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact owns a 2024 PJ Trailer LD. The contact stated while hauling the trailer and depressing the brake pedal, the trailer failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The trailer was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the axle and the brake assembly were installed backwards during the trailer manufacturing process. The contact was informed that the four drum brakes and pads were installed in the opposite direction. The dealer replaced the four brakes drums and pads. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 63-64 MPH, a message indicating that the trailer connection was lost was displayed. The contact that he noticed smoke coming from underneath the trailer. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road and inspected the trailer. The contact noticed that the driver's side brakes assembly wiring had melted and the brake assembly had internally collapsed. The trailer was towed to the residence. The trailer was not repaired. No further information was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
