Data refreshed
Reports naming seat belts, buckles, retractors and pretensioners. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 1994 Plymouth Acclaim submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 11 reports on file name it.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I AM HAVING A PROBLEMS WITH THE AUTOMATIC MOTORIZED SEAT BELT RETRACTORS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE BELTS DO NOT RETRACT FULLY AND GET STUCK IN THE TRACK. AS A RESULT WE ARE UNABLE TO USE THE SHOULD RESTRAINT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE DEALERS ATTENTION ON A SEVRICE VISIT MAY 18TH, AND WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER CONTRACTS WOULD NOT REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT SYSTEM. IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT, WHILE I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED 7 YEAR 70,000 WARRANTY, IT WOULD COST CLOSE TO $500 TO FIX THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC SEAT BELTS. IN OTHER WORDS, CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER THE SEAT BELTS UNDER ANY FACTORY WARRANTY. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, YET CANNOT AFFORD TO FORK OVER $500 TO FIX THE SEAT BELT. I SINCERELY WISH THAT SAFETY ITEMS SUCH AS SEAT BELTS, COULD BE COVERED FOR THE LIFE OF A VEHICLE. I WOULD WELCOME ANY HELP FROM THE NHTSA ON THIS ISSUE. *AK
