2001 Plymouth Prowler Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2001 Plymouth Prowler, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THE BALL JOINTS ARE WEAK. HAVE BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING. THE DON'T LAST AS LONG AS WITH OTHER CARS AND BREAK FAIRLY EASY. IT'S A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP. I WAS VERY LUCKY, MINE BROKE AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A RESTAURANT. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE INTERSTATE DOING HIGHWAY SPEED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 40 MPH ON A SMOOTH ROADWAY, CITY STREET, THE RIGHT,LOWER BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM THE A-FRAME. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. I WAS ABLE TO GUIDE THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE ROADWAY. THERE WAS NO WARNING.. NOISE OR ANY OTHER INDICATION OF THE FAILURE. JUST THE POP OF THE FAILED BALL JOINT SEPARATING AND THEN THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE CAR SCRAPING ON THE PAVEMENT. OTHER VEHICLES IN THE AREA STEERED AROUND ME TO AVOID A COLLISION.
