ENGINE
Polaris has determined that some 2023 and 2024 Slingshot models may have a plugged timing chain oil jet which could result in a lack of oil to the timing chain guides and risk causing severe engine damage. To address this concern, Polaris has released this Service Bulletin with instructions to inspect the oil jet, and replace if needed. The affected population is less than 40 VINs.

6 Model Year 2024 Slingshot vehicles equipped with G4 engines have been identified by the quality team to possibly have a defective crankshaft that will cause an early life/infant failure of the lower rod bearing(s). Crankshaft failures are expected to be seen on 2.2 percent of the population or at most 1 of the affected units. Quality Alert Cases have all been created for the 6 affected VINs.

Polaris has received an increasing number of claims for vehicles not charging. Testing of returned alternators indicates that the alternator was not the root cause and did not require replacement. The terminal of the excitation wire may become opened, damaged, or pushed back during installation of the connector to the alternator, resulting in the alternator not charging intermittently.
