The defect: CERTAIN TRAILERS, EQUIPPED WITH TRUCK-LITE BRAND MODEL 44,40 OR 30 STOP/TAIL LIGHT AND FRONT/REAR SIDE MARKER LIGHTS WITH NO REFLEX LENS OR REFLECTIVE MATERIAL, FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, 'LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. '
The risk: A REFLEX LENS OR REFLECTIVE MATERIAL IS NOT INCORPORATED IN THE LIGHTS. THIS REDUCED LIGHTING LEVEL WILL AFFECT DRIVERS VISIBILITY AND A CRASH MAY OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL MAIL TO OWNERS A WRITTEN NOTIFICATION ALONG WITH INSTRUCTIONS, DIAGRAMS AND PARTS TO APPLY A 4-RED AND 2 AMBER SAE A 90 ADHESIVE BACKED REFLECTORS. OWNERS MAY ALSO HAVE DEALERS PERFORM THE WORK. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 25, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WOOD MANUFACTURING AT 612-337-1859.

ATV TRAILER ON HIGHWAY IN TOW WITH ATV SECURED. ONE OF 5 RAMPS SUDDENLY FELL OFF TRAILER WHILE IN MOTION. SPOT WELDS ON RAMP PINS FAILED ALLOWING HINGE PINS TO WORK OUT AND FALL UPON ROAD AND RAMP DROPPING TO ROAD. 3 PINS APPX. 8" LONG AND SEVERAL POUNDS DROPPED TO ROAD WHILE IN MOTION AND 3'X4' APPX. SIZE RAMP DROPPING TO ROAD. UNKNOWN IF PINS HIT OR DAMAGED ANYTHING AS I WAS TRAVELING. RETRIEVED RAMP AND TWO OF THREE PINS. POOR WELDS BROKE ALLOWING PINS TO WORK THEIR WAY OUT. UPON INSPECTION OF PINS AND HINGE BODY I FOUND SPOT WELDS WERE POORLY DONE AND NO ANGLE OF WELD ON PINS WERE MADE-JUST SURFACE ADHESION. INSPECTION OF REMAINING PINS SHOW WELD STRESS AND EVENTUALLY WILL FAIL. HAVE NOT REPAIRED YET AND PINS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION- I WILL REPAIR THIS PROBLEM IF NOT ADVISED TO HOLD PARTS OR WAIT FOR INSPECTION THIS COULD HAVE BECOME A DEADLY DANGER TO OTHER MOTORIST.
