What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

CERTAIN IC CE 2005 SCHOOL BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 27 AND OCTOBER 13, 2004. THE LOCKNUT THAT SECURES THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE PIVOT BOLT MAY NOT BE TORQUED PROPERLY.

The risk

THE BRAKE PEDAL MAY SEPARATE FROM THE PIVOT BRACKET. THIS COULD PREVENT BRAKE APPLICATION.

The remedy

IC CORPORATION WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND WILL INSPECT THE LOCKNUT, REPLACE IF NECESSARY AND TORQUE PROPERLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 1, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT IC AT 1-800-448-7825.

Notes

CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
