The defect
EZ Loader Adjustable Boat Trailers, Inc. (EZ Loader) is recalling certain model year 2013 -2014 boat trailers, equipped with Carlisle Transportation Products-brand 15X6" and 16X6" CrossTrax Series trailer wheels. The lips of the affected wheels are susceptible to cracking and separation.
The risk
If a separation occurs, the trailer tire may rapidly lose air pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
The manufacturer has not provided a remedy plan. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact EZ Loader at 1-509-489-0181.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
