What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Iowa Mold Tooling Co., Inc. (IMT) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Dominator Contractor series trucks built on 2017 Ford Super Duty chassis. These vehicles are equipped with a front jump start plug kit installed under the hood at the chassis battery. The fuse block for this kit may contact the hood creating an electrical short.

The risk

An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

IMT will notify owners, and dealers will replace the jump start kit mounting bracket, thereby relocating the fuse block, free of charge. The recall began on September 29, 2017. Owners may contact IMT customer service at 1-800-247-5958. IMT's number for this recall is TB2017006.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
