NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Volvo Bus Corporation (Volvo) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Prevost 9700 transit buses. The buses may not react when the accelerator pedal is pushed.

The risk

If the vehicle does not accelerate when commanded, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

The remedy

Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will replace the accelerator pedals, free of charge. The recall began on October 3, 2017. Owners may contact Volvo customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Volvo's number for this recall is SR17-82.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
