What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Wildwood and Salem travel trailer recreational trailers. The exterior transit latch on the rear patio door cannot be unlocked from inside the vehicle.

The risk

A door that remains locked can prevent or delay occupants from evacuating during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Dealers will remove the exterior transit latch, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 22, 2025. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-534-3167. Forest River's number for this recall is 69-1945.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
