Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The faulty wiring of the battery caused it to catch fire. The vehicle is currently available for inspection, at the dealership. We have the fire report, the independent fire inspection report, and the recall that was mailed to us by the manufacturer, as well as the inspection and estimate from the insurance company. My husband and infant daughter were inside when it caught fire directly under the propane tanks. There were no warning signs, the neighbor saw smoke from the window, that was the only warning that was had.

The contact owns a 2025 Forest River Wildwood. The contact stated that the door on the trailer could be wiggled from the inside and was not properly secured to the trailer. The contact saw sawdust near the heating system after removing the propane service cover, and the water heater overheated. The front left side of the trailer was fractured due to the screws rusting and fracturing from water leaking into the trailer. The contact stated that there was water and wet surfaces near all the windows. The contact stated that the failure started since the trailer was purchased, placing it on land as a place of residency, and the trailer never moved afterwards. The trailer had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issues. The approximate failure mileage was 2.

This is a LCI authored document in which clarifies the axles' bearing grease frequently asked questions. This document is not tied to a specific make, model or model year. This document covers any recreational trailer manufactured with an LCI axle(s). The owner/operator will know which brand axle(s) are installed by reviewing the axle tag located at the center of the axle beam.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
