What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

A WRONG CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATOR CABLE CLIP WAS INSTALLED IN THE ASSEMBLY. THIS COULD ALLOW THE ACCELERATOR CABLE TO DISENGAGE FROM THE THROTTLE CONTROL. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE DISENGAGED ACCELERATOR CABLE CAUSES THE THROTTLE TO REMAIN PARTIALLY OPEN WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS IN USE AND RESULTS IN LOSS OF ACCELERATION CONTROL AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

The remedy

INSTALL NEW ACCELERATOR CABLE CLIP.

Notes

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER WAGONS WITH CRUISE CONTROL. SYSTEM: CRUISE CONTROL CLIP.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
