What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM CAN OVERLOAD THE CIRCUIT BREAKER AND CAUSE IT TO TRIP WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, RESULTING IN LOSS OF HEADLIGHTS.

The risk

LOSS OF HEADLIGHTS WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING REDUCES DRIVERVISIBILITY IN INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS OR AT NIGHT, AND COULD RESULT IN AVEHICLE ACCIDENT.

The remedy

SPLIT THE HIGH BEAM CIRCUIT INTO LEFT AND RIGHT CIRCUITS, EACH SIDE HAVING ITS OWN RELAY AND BREAKER, REPLACING THE CURRENT CIRCUIT.

Notes

SYSTEM: LIGHTING; HEADLAMPS.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORHOMES.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
