The defect

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE FUEL INJECTION LINE CAN WEAR DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE WATER HOSE CLAMP ON THE COOLANT PIPE.

The risk

IF THE FUEL LINE FRACTURES, FUEL LEAKAGE CAN OCCUR. IF AN IGNITION SOURCE IS PRESENT, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.

The remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND ROTATE THE INCORRECTLY FITTED WATER HOSE CLAMPS.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH15, 1998.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FERRARI AT 1-201-816-2651.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
