2021 Renegade Valencia Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

This is a motorhome equipped with a permanently mounted motorized shade awning for use while stationary. While driving the motorhome eastbound on [XXX] , the motorized awning activated while in motion, fully extending on the passenger side of the vehicle into the lane to the right, nearly hitting the truck I was passing. An accident with the truck was nearly avoided, and I was able to make an emergency stop on the shoulder of the interstate. The awning controls are interlocked to the ignition, and it is supposed to be impossible to extend while the ignition of the motorhome is in the on position. Upon inspection after the incident it was found that the motion control of the awning (that is supposed to automatically retract the awning when it gets too windy) had failed, and was actually causing the awning to extend when the motion control was activated, even when in motion. The awning is manufactured by Girard (Lippert) - Model number GG750, Serial Number 2017006432 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
