2007 Saturn Aura Seat belts Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the seat belt system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Seat belts reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHEN I HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT FLASHES FROM OFF TO ON. I TALKED TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT MAY BE A SEAT SENSOR AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO.

SEAT BELT ALERT ON DASH KEEPS TELLING ME THAT THE SEAT BELT FOR THE DRIVER IS NOT BUCKLED EVEN WHEN DRIVER IS BUCKLED IN. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE THAT HAD BEEN HANDLED UNDER A WARRANTY CLAIM BY REPLACING THE DASH CLUSTER AFTER MANY TRIPS TO THE DEALER. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS REPLACED UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. NOW THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED AND GM IS REFUSING ANY SORT OF REPLACEMENT OR DIAGNOSIS ON THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT DEALS WITH PASSENGER SAFETY. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NEW AND HAVE ON GOING ISSUES WITH THE DASH CLUSTER AND IT MALFUNCTIONING WITH GM TELLING ME EVERY TIME THAT THEY WILL NO LONGER FIX IT. I WOULD HATE TO SEE SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY HURT AS A RESULT OF THE SEAT BELT NOT LOCKING IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE ELECTRONICS DO NOT SEE THE SEAT BELT AS BEING BUCKLED. *TR

THE HEATED SEATS COMES ON ITS OWN ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LIGHT COMES ON WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES OFTEN WHEN STARTING THE CAR AND WHEN I TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART IT GOES OUT...BUT LATELY IT STAYS ON LONGER. *TR

I HAVE AN 2007 SATURN AURA, THE BACK SEAT BELTS ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH. WHEN YOU FASTEN THE BELT YOU HAVE "NO" MOVEMENT AT ALL. SO IN ORDER TO REACH THE REAR CONTROLS THE PASSENGERS HAS TO REMOVE THERE BELTS! EVEN IF YOU NOT REACHING FOR ANYTHING THE BELT CONTINUE TO PULL YOU BACK IN THE SEAT EVERY TIME YOU SIFT YOUR WEIGHT. THIS RESULTS IN THE PASSENGERS HAVING TO "UNDO" THEY BELTS RETRACT THEM AND REFASTEN THEM WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. NOT SAFE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO SATURN AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME, IT IS WHAT IT IS AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT A CAR MANUFACTURE WOULD BUILD A CAR WITH SEAT BELTS THAT CAN'T BE USED BY ADULTS. MY SON IS 21 AND 160 LBS AND IT IS AN PROBLEM FOR HIM AS WELL . ITS NOT PROBLEM WITH THE SIZE OF THE PERSON BUT THE LENGTH OF THE SEAT BELT. ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. *NM
