AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DEALER IDENTIFIED PROBLEM AS "FOUND SPIRAL CABLE FAILED. INTERNAL PARTS FAILURE, SPIRAL CABLE IS BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL AND CONTROLS THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG UNIT" QUOTED COST OF REPAIR: $552 ON TOP OF THE $130 ALREADY SPENT TO DISCOVER THE CAUSE .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SCION XB. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V005000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. MIKE ERDMAN TOYOTA (4650 FL-520, COCOA, FL 32926, (321) 453-1313) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. CONSUMER STATED ALL ISSUES WERE RESOLVED.*JB

The contact owns a 2014 Scion XB. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the contact observed an abnormal burning odor. The contact stated that on several occasions while inspecting the engine oil, the contact became aware that the oil level was low, and oil was added to the vehicle. The oil warning light was occasionally illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of oil, and that the short block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING A LOT OF OIL. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO NORTH HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA (4606 LANKERSHIM BLVD, NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA 91602) WHERE THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.*DT

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SCION XB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE RUNNING BOARD WAS DETACHED AND HANGING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA PASADENA (3600 E FOOTHILL BLVD, PASADENA, CA 91107, (626) 795-9787) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FEES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 SCION XB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED HOWEVER WAS LOSE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT CALLED MARKQUART TOYOTA (1844 COMMERCIAL BLVD, CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI 54729(715) 834-4440) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED.
