The defect: Daimler Coaches North America (Daimler Coaches) is recalling certain 2009-2020 Setra S417 and 2012-2019 Setra S407 vehicles. The switches for the hazard warning lights, defroster, heating and air conditioning system, and fan speed may fail to illuminate correctly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."
The risk: The driver may be distracted by switches that are too bright or by searching for switches that are too dim or not illuminated, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Daimler Coaches will repair the hazard warning lights switch, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2026. Owners may contact Daimler Coaches' customer service at 1-416-624-3558.

The defect: Daimler Coaches North America (Daimler Coaches) is recalling certain 2009-2020 Setra S417 and 2012-2019 Setra S407 vehicles. The hinge on the engine compartment flap may crack, which could result in the flap detaching from the vehicle.
The risk: A detached engine compartment flap can become a road hazard, and increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will attach a restraining tether to the engine compartment flap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 13, 2021. Owners may contact Daimler Coaches' customer service at 1-416-624-3558. Daimler Coaches' number for this recall is TI#: 75.00U21166A. This recall supersedes previous recall number 20V394.

STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS

The defect: Setra of North America (Setra) is recalling certain 2006-2010 S417 vehicles. The doorway strip that prevents a pinch injury from the outward swiveling entry door may not function properly.
The risk: If the doorway strip does not function properly, there is an increased risk of a pinch injury.
The remedy: Setra will notify owners, and dealers will, retrofit a bridging cable to the door control unit that will prevent deactivation of the anti-entrapment strip, free of charge. The recall began on March 16, 2018. Owners may contact Setra customer service at 1-800-241-2947. Setra's number for this recall is 72.4M10699A.
