1998 Skyline Nomad Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I HAVE A DOMETIC RV REFRIGERATOR MODEL RM3862 THAT WAS INVOLVED IN A SAFETY RECALL (#06E-076). ACCORDING TO THE RECALL THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF THE UNIT CATCHING ON FIRE IF THE COOLING SYSTEM RISER TUBE RUPTURES. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS DEFECT. WHEN I CONTACTED DOMETIC ON 20TH JULY 2010 I WAS INFORMED THAT DOMETIC WOULD ONLY INSTALL THE SAFETY KIT, AND WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR TO THE COOLING SYSTEM. IF THIS SAFETY ISSUE COULD CAUSE THE UNIT TO CATCH FIRE, THEN IT WOULD SURELY BE OVER HEATING THE RISER TUBE, WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE UNIT TO CORRODE PREMATURELY AND RUPTURE. MY UNIT HAS FAILED DUE TO THIS DEFECT AND THE UNIT SHOULD BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED BY DOMETIC. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT TO REPAIR THE REFRIGERATOR THE COOLING UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED (ABOUT $900.00). NEW UNITS COST ABOUT $1200.00. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
