Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PARK TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH SUBURBAN MANUFACTURING COMPANY P-40 PARK TRAILER FURNACES. THE COMBUSTION AIR BLOWER WHEEL WAS NOT TO DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS. OPERATION OF THE FURNACE WITH THE INCORRECT BLOWER WHEEL COULD PROVIDE AN INADEQUATE SUPPLY OF COMBUSTION AIR TO SUPPORT PROPER COMBUSTION. THE RESULT IS THAT THE FURNACE EXHAUST COULD CONTAIN EXCESSIVE LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE.
The risk: IF CARBON MONOXIDE IS NOT DETECTED, IT COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
The remedy: SUBURBAN WILL REPLACE THE COMBUSTION AIR BLOWER WHEEL. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT SUBURBAN 1-423-775-2131 OR SKYLINE AT 1-219-294-6521.

WHILE DRIVING WEST ON INTERSTATE 30 APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES FROM MR. VERNON, TX THE LEFT FRONT TIRE ON MY TRAVEL TRAILER LOST ITS TREAD. THE TREAD WRAPPED AROUND THE BRAKE AND BLEW INTO THE WHEEL WELL DAMAGING THE VANITY, BREAKING THE WATER LINES AND DAMAGING THE INTERIOR OF THE TRAILER. DAMAGE TO THE TRAILER WAS ESTIMATED AT $1400.00. THIS WAS ONE TIME OCCURRENCE. I REPLACED THE TIRE WITH THE SPARE, REMOVED THE TREAD AND STOPPED THE WATER FLOW. I EVENTUALLY TURNED THE TIRE OVER TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND FILED A CLAIM WITH THE TIRE MANUFACTURER, AMERICAN GENERAL NOW CONTINENTAL TIRE. THE TIRE DID NOT GO FLAT HOWEVER AFTER PARKING THE TRAILER THE TIRE DID LOOSE ITS PRESSURE. I HAD TO REMOVE THE BRAKE DRUM AND REPAIR THE ELECTRIC BRAKE WIRES SO I COULD CONTINUE ON TO MY DESTINATION. I HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY WHO IS SUBROGATING AGAINST THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
