THE SFD HAS SIX FIRE APPARATUS WITH THIS CHASSIS FROM THE 93 AND 94 MODEL YEARS. TWO HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL FAILURES IN THE WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN THE LEFT BATTERY BANK AND THE STARTER. I PERSONALLY WAS DRIVING ONE OF THEM WHEN TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE SHUT OFF ALL POWER INCLUDING LIGHTS (ENGINE 20). ENGINE 10 CAUGHT FIRE IN THE FIRE STATION APPARATUS BAY AND WAS DISCOVERED BEFORE SERIOUS STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE FIRE STATION OCCURRED. THE SPECIFICS AS TO MILEAGE AND DATE ARE APPROXIMATE. I AM REPORTING THIS ON MY OWN NOT AS AN OFFICIAL DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE. THE ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER PROVIDED ARE MY HOME.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
