The defect: QUALITY VANS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004 THROUGH 2008 VANS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 2005 AND NOVEMBER 2007, EQUIPPED WITH RICON PLATFORM STYLE WHEELCHAIR LIFTS. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 404, "PLATFORM LIFT INSTALLATIONS IN MOTOR VEHICLES." THE THRESHOLD WARNING SYSTEM MAY NOT DETECT THE PRESENCE OF A WHEELCHAIR OR MOBILITY AID USER IN A CERTAIN SPOT WITHIN THE DEFINED THRESHOLD AREA.
The risk: THE USER OF THE LIFT COULD BE INJURED SHOULD THE LIFT MOVE UNINTENTIONALLY.
The remedy: QUALITY VANS IS WORKING WITH RICON TO CORRECT THE WHEELCHAIR LIFTS FREE OF CHARGE (PLEASE SEE 07E095). OWNERS MAY CONTACT RICON AT 1-818-267-3000 OR QUALITY VANS AT 1-480-464-7007.

The defect: DAIMLER BUSES IS RECALLING 465 MY 2004-2008 SPRINTER 2500 AND 3500 BUSES EQUIPPED WITH RICON PLATFORM STYLE WHEELCHAIR LIFTS. THESE LIFTS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 403, "PLATFORM LIFT SYSTEMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES." THE ANTI-STOW INTERLOCK MAY NOT DETECT THE PRESENCE OF A WHEELCHAIR OR MOBILITY AID USER. THE PRESSURE SENSING SWITCH THAT DETECTS THE PRESENCE OF WEIGHT ON THE PLATFORM WAS NOT ADJUSTED TO THE NECESSARY SENSITIVITY LEVEL. THE LIFT COULD STOW EVEN THOUGH SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS STILL ON THE LIFT.
The risk: A LIFT OCCUPANT CAN BE INJURED SHOULD THE LIFT BEGIN TO STOW UNINTENTIONALLY.
The remedy: DAIMLER BUSES IS WORKING WITH RICON TO CORRECT THE WHEELCHAIR LIFTS (PLEASE SEE 07E097). OWNERS MAY CONTACT RICON AT 1-800-322-2884 OR DAIMLER BUSES AT 1-905-403-7807.

ENGINE POWER GREATLY REDUCED, UNABLE TO ENTER ON-RAMP OF HIGHWAYS TO SAFELY MERGE. CAN NOT ACCELERATE. DERRICK DODGE IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SPRINTER 3500 MODEL 3 LITER ENGINE. IT IS TURBO AIR BOOSTER HOSE CLAMP DEFECTIVELY CUT INTO THE HOSE CAUSING IT TO SPLIT. PART NUMBER FP 68047331-AA, HOSE DESCRIPTION 07-014-005. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SPRINTER 2500. BEFORE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT AND THE DEALER KNEW OF AN EXISTING SAFETY RECALL (MANUFACTURER NOTIFICATION CODE G20). THE DEALER LED HER TO BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD BE PERFORMED BEFORE SHE RECEIVED THE KEYS TO THE VEHICLE. SHE HAS SINCE LEARNED THAT THE REPAIR WAS NEVER MADE. SHE HAS BEEN CALLING THE DEALER SINCE RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DRIVES CHILDREN AROUND AND DOES NOT KNOW IF IT IS SAFE TO CONTINUE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600.
