Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The defect: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2013 GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, and model year 2005-2013 GSX-R1000 motorcycles. In combination with older brake fluid, corrosion of the brake piston inside of the front brake master cylinder generates gas that may result in a reduction of fluid pressure transmission to the front brake.
The risk: As a result, front braking power may be reduced increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder, free of charge. The recall began on November 18, 2013. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-572-1490. Suzuki's campaign numbers for this recall are: 2A (31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36).

THE FIRST TIME I HAD MY PROBLEM I WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE RECTIFIER BURNED UP AND THE RECTIFIER AND STATOR WENT OUT I PUSHED IT HOME, 2 YEARS AFTER THAT IN THE SPRING I PUT MY BATTERY BACK IN IT FIRED IT UP AND POOF THE RECTIFIER BURNS UP AND NOW 8/6/20 BIKE QUIT RUNNING BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND STILL WONT START I CHECKED THE RECTIFIER AND IT LOOKS GOOD DON'T LOOK OR SMELL FRIED AND THAT MEANS THE STATOR IS OUT AGAIN. THIS HAS TO BE AN ON GOING PROBLEM I'M SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE GOING THROUGH RECTIFIER AND STATORS MORE THEN BRAKES AND TIRES I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON WITH THE STATOR ISSUE BUT THE WAY THE RECTIFIER IS MOUNTED IT'S IN BETWEEN THE RADIATOR AND ENGINE WHERE IT GETS HOT THAT NEEDS REMOUNTED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRAME AWAY FROM THE HEAT PLUS THE BIKE IS COMPLETELY STOCK SO I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS MANY PROBLEMS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SUZUKI GSX-R750. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH DOWN A MOUNTAINSIDE, THE VEHICLE'S THROTTLE DID NOT MOVE, THE SPEED DECREASED TO ZERO, AND THE MOTORCYCLE SEIZED. THE CONTACT HAD THE MOTORCYCLE TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE LOCAL DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

GENTLEMEN I OWN A 2006 SUZUKI GSXR 750 SPORT BIKE AND TO PUT IT LIGHTLY, I AM SCARED TO RIDE IT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BIKE WHILE RIDING AT AN AVERAGE SPEED AT AROUND 4000-6000 RPM'S, WITH JUST A MINUTE CHANGE IN ACCELERATION THE BIKE ACCELERATES AND DECELERATES UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS IS A GREAT PROBLEM WHICH CAN LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL AND POTENTIALLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN THE MOTORCYCLE TO THE DEALERS NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO FIX. THE PROBLEM IS MORE EVIDENT AT AN ENGINE OPERATING TEMPERATURE OF ABOUT 195-210F. I ASK THAT YOU INVESTIGATE AND ATTEMPT TO FIND A SOLUTION FROM WHICH WE ALL CAN BENEFIT. THANK YOU. *TR

AT LOW RPM'S OR OPENING THROTTLE FROM STOP, THE THROTTLE ABRUPTLY ENGAGES AND JERKS ME FORWARD IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER. THIS COULD BE SERIOUS IF I WERE TO LOOSE CONTROL OR TAKE MY ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE ROAD OR VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. *TR

MY GAS TANK ON A 2006 GSXR 750 RUSTED OUT IN UNDER 3 YEARS. GAS WAS POURING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK WHERE 3 HOLES WERE SUBSEQUENTLY DISCOVERED. APPARENTLY, RUSTED OUT GAS TANK IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ON A 3 YEAR OLD BIKE. IF THE GAS TANK CAN'T HANDLE THE REGULAR WATER CONTENT OF THE GAS THAT IS POURED INTO IT, IT IS AN UNSAFE TANK. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2006 GSX-R750 IN APRIL 2008 WITH 3000 MILES ON IT. THE FI LIGHT AND DISPLAY GO ON AND STAY ON, WITH NO CODE BEING LODGED WITH THE ONBOARD COMPUTER. I HAVE HAD IT CLEARED TWICE AND THE FAULT RECURS. THE BIKE GETS POOR GAS MILEAGE, HAS POOR THROTTLE RESPONSE AND OCCASIONALLY STUMBLES ON DECELERATION OR AT LOW REVS WHEN ENGINE TEMP IS HIGH. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SUZUKI GIXXER GSX-R750. WHILE RIDING 35 MPH, ANTIFREEZE SPONTANEOUSLY SPRAYED ONTO THE CONTACT'S LEG. UPON INSPECTION, HE NOTICED THAT THE COOLING FAN FAILED IN THE RADIATOR UNIT, WHICH CAUSED ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK OUT. THE FAILURE NEARLY BURNED HIS BODY PARTS. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,000.

1.) AT THIS POINT THERE IS NO FAILURE...YET. 2.) MY 2006 SUZUKI GSXR 750 AND 2006 SUZUKI GSXR 600 MOTORCYCLES HAVE SEVERE ON/OFF THROTTLE RESPONSE. WHEN APPLYING THROTTLE NO MATTER HOW MUCH AND/OR HOW SMOOTH THE APPLICATION IS, MOTORCYCLE HAS A ABRUPT RESPONSE. PROBLEM IS ALSO VERY BAD WHEN GETTING OF THE THROTTLE ALSO. BY SAYING "ABRUPT" MOTORCYCLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE SMOOTHLY. IF NOT DONE AT THE UTMOST CARE, OPERATOR CAN BE VERY EASILY BE THROWN OFF AND/OR SEVERELY EFFECT THE BALANCE OF THE MOTORCYCLE THEREFORE CAUSING INJURY,PROPERTY DAMAGE AND POSSIBLE DEATH. MOTORCYCLE CANNOT MAINTAIN SMOOTH/CONSTANT SPEED SMOOTHLY. DID NOTICE THE PROBLEM IN SPRING OF 2006 BUT THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL UNTIL RECENTLY HAD A CHANCE TO RIDE A DIFFERENT MOTORCYCLE AND ALSO AFTER SOME RESEARCHING. I ALSO RECENTLY PURCHASED ANOTHER SAME TYPE MOTORCYCLE (GSXR 600) AND PROBLEM IS VERY APPARENT ALSO. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *TR

Manufacturer communications

A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.

EPN-2546-2

EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES

Notification to distributors of a request to promote the disposal of old parts stock (revised).

EPN-2546

EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES

Notification to distributors of a request to promote the disposal of old parts stock.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
