TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SUZUKI GSX-R600. WHILE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND ATTEMPTING TO SWITCH TO NEUTRAL, THE MOTORCYCLE STALLED AND DID NOT RESTART. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, THE MOTORCYCLE RESTARTED AND UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. AFTERWARDS, THE MOTORCYCLE WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REGULATOR RECTIFIER WAS REPLACED IN 2016 BY THE DEALER (HOUSE OF MOTORCYCLES IN VISTA, CALIFORNIA). THE MOTORCYCLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

I OWN A 2008 SUZUKI GSXR 600. I HAVE DONE A FEW RECALLS ON THIS BIKE INCLUDING THE RECTIFIER AND MASTER CYLINDER. HOWEVER, THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE STATOR WHICH IS NOT UNDER RECALL YET. I HAVE REPLACED THIS PART AT LEAST TWICE, AND NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE IT AGAIN AS IT JUST WENT OUT. THIS PART IS NOT UNDER RECALL, BUT I HAVE HEARD ABOUT, AND READ ABOUT MANY ISSUES WITH THIS SAME PART. IT CAUSES UNSAFE DRIVING AS IT CAUSES THE MOTORCYCLE TO MALFUNCTION BY BASICALLY SHUTTING OFF AND TURNING ON RAPIDLY MAKING THE BIKE VERY JUMPY AND UNPREDICTABLE. THIS COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE A CRASH. DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET, THE BIKE SHUT OFF ON ME AT A RED LIGHT AND I HAD TO PUSH IT OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE BIKE WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY. NOT POSITIVE OF THE ISSUE, I GOT THE MOTORCYCLE STARTED AND I TRIED RIDING HOME AND IT WAS VERY JUMPY AND ALMOST FULLY SHUT OFF A FEW TIMES. I HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY GIVE THE BIKE THROTTLE OTHERWISE IT WOULD DIE. UPON ARRIVING AT MY HOUSE I STOPPED THE BIKE AND IT DIED INSTANTLY. THE BIKE TACHOMETER WOULD NOT EVEN TURN ON AFTER THAT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS WELL AS A POSSIBLE FAULTY PART THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I HAVE VIDEO TO ILLUSTRATE WHAT HAPPENED.

RIDING MY '08 SUZUKI GSXR-600 PER NORMAL OPERATION, I NOTICE THAT IT STARTS TO LOSE POWER. THIS IS A VEHICLE THAT HAS JUST OVER 1000 MILES (BARELY PAST BREAK-IN) AND IS LESS THAN 6 MOS OLD. WHEN I TRY TO ROLL ON MORE THROTTLE, THERE IS 0 RESPONSE FROM THE MACHINE. IT THEN ARBITRARILY 'KICKS IN' WHICH GIVES THE SAME SORT OF RESPONSE AS POPPING THE CLUTCH. THIS HAPPENS ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP TO NORMAL OPERATING TEMPS. ONCE IT HAPPENS, IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN, SOMEWHAT INTERMITTENTLY BUT OFTEN. THIS BEHAVIOR HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST WRECK IN A CURVE MORE THAN ONCE. GENERAL USER CONSENSUS AT WWW.GIXXER.COM (FOREMOST ONLINE BULLETIN BOARD FOR SUZUKI GSXR OWNERS AND RIDERS) IS THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR THAT IS DEFECTIVE. THIS IS THE SAME UNIT THAT IS ON THE YAMAHA R SERIES AND THAT UNIT HAS BEEN RECALLED BY YAMAHA. *TR

Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES
Notification to distributors of a request to promote the disposal of old parts stock (revised).
EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES
Notification to distributors of a request to promote the disposal of old parts stock.
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
