2021 Tiffin Allegro Open Road Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Slide-out creep of drivers side slide room. Previous recall NHTSA #22V-273, which was “fixed” 7/1/2022-7/6/2022 per this recall. The slide-out creep returned in July 2023. Message sent to Tiffin Motorhomes with in response. Because of medical issues unable to follow up then, but noted numerous complaints on same issue of returning Slideout creep after supposed repair under recall. This is clearly a safety issue as slide may come out while traveling presenting a hazard to motorhome occupants and other vehicles. Also a hazard when it comes out while parked. The slide-out mechanism is manufactured by Lippert Industries.

Tiffin/Lippert issued a Recall for a hydraulic slide issue commonly referred to as "Slide Creep". The side of the RV (referred to as a slide) of this RV extends out via a hydraulic system, and the slide was "creeping" out a few inches randomly, including while the RV was moving. We followed the Recall process and had a repair made at a local repair shop. The bill was paid for by Tiffin/Lippert. The problem wasn't resolved and neither Tiffin nor Lippert has responded to any attempt to address the ongoing problem. I have my RV with a service shop now and they have diagnosed the Slide Creep issue to be a bad hydraulic pump (which was NOT the repair made under the Recall). Lippert is refusing to provide a replacement pump saying the pump failure is NOT related to the Recall. However, they continue to have no answer to the previous Recall not solving the slide creep problem. We understand from various Tiffin Owner groups that many Tiffin owners that were subject to the Recall have experienced the same issue as we have. This Recall was issued late summer 2021. Because of Recall parts availability the repair was not made until summer of 2022. The Slide Creep issue has continued since the repair was made with no resolution provided by either Tiffin or Lippert.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
