Data refreshed
What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

2013 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SINCE THE PURCHASE DATE, HE ENCOUNTERED A SIGNIFICANT AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH REGARD TO THE ACCELERATOR/THROTTLE MECHANISM. ON A SPORADIC BASIS, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A LOW SPEED TO HIGH SPEED, SUCH AS, MERGING INTO A TRAFFIC LANE, THERE WAS A LACK OF RESPONSE (SIMILAR TO A STALLING SENSATION). ON TWO OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM.

Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
VEHICLE MAY CREEP WHILE BRAKES ARE APPLIED WHEN STOPPED. NORMAL BRAKING PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO STOP VEHICLE. VEHICLE STOPS OK. AFTER A FEW SECOND, THE VEHICLE MAY BEGIN TO CREEP FORWARD AS IF THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER IS NO LONGER APPLYING THE CORRECT PRESSURE TO HOLD THE VEHICLE, REQUIRING ADDITIONAL LIGHT PRESSURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM IS MORE NOTICEABLE IF AN ACCESSORY SUCH AS THE A/C COMPRESSOR TURNS ON AND CAUSES THE ENGINE IDLE SPEED TO INCREASE VERY SLIGHTLY. UNTIL YESTERDAY MY BIGGEST CONCERN WAS BUMPING A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AT A STOPLIGHT. ON 7/1 WHILE SITTING IN THE PICK UP LINE AT CAMP, THE CREEPING CAUSED ME TO NEARLY BUMP A CHILD WHO WAS STANDING NEXT TO THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER DOOR WINDOW / LOCK CONTROL MODULE WILL NOT LEARN OR RETAIN THE CONNECTIONS TO THE OTHER DOORS. WHILE THE CAR IS SHUT DOWN THE CONTROL MODULE WORKS AS IF IT IS IN NORMAL MODE AND CAN CONTROL ALL THE WINDOWS. THE 4 DOOR LOCKING DOES NOT WORK WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING BUT WORKS WHILE IT IS SHUT DOWN. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND EVEN WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DOOR MODULE DOESN'T WORK. THIS ISSUE STARTED WITH A GROUND IN THE PASSENGER SEAT HEATER SYSTEM WHICH DREW DOWN THE BATTERY SIGNIFICANTLY.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
