2007 Toyota Scion Tc Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Ive been going thru a lot of oil lately and i dont understand why, i have a friend that owns the same car and told me he was going thru the same thing and took the car to toyota and turns out they had a recall about oil consumption so they ended up rebuilding his engine or replacing it. So im wondering if im going thru the same thing. I have to put oil in the car every 2 weeks

I am also one of them that just learned why my 2007 Scion TC is eating the oil. I love this car and wish I would have received the notice about the engine problems back when Toyota may have done something about it. I know that three difference dealerships have my contact info. I will continue to put in a quart of oil each week until that stops helping.

WHEN I DRIVE IT FOR ABOUT 45 MINS EACH WAY EVERYDAY IT BURNS ALL THE OIL WHEN IT HITS 1,700 MILES. TODAY 03/03/2021 I CHECK MY OIL AND IT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY I MEAN NOT EVEN A DROP IM GLAD I COUGHT IT TODAY I DONT WANT TO KNOW IF I HAD TAKEN MUCH LONGER IM SURE MY ENGINE COULD BREAKDOWN EASILY. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO I TRY ALL THE FULL SYNTHETIC OILS AND IT STILL THE SAME.

LITERALLY JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. ONLY TO LOOK INTO THE HISTORY OF THESE CARS AND SEE THAT THEY HAVE A FACTORY DEFECT THAT WAS NEVER PROFESSIONALLY TAKEN CARE OF. NOW ANYONE LIKE ME COMING INTO OWNERSHIP OF THESE VEHICLES ARE PUNISHED FOR SOMETHING WE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF NOR CAUSED.I WAS DRIVING MY CAR TODAY DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDTHE CAR JERKS AND DIES. IT WOULD RESTART AFTER THAT. NOW MIND YOU I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY VEHICLES AND KEEP ALL FLUIDS TO THEIR FACTORY SUGGESTED LEVELS. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT SPUN A BEARING THANKS TO THIS FACTORY OIL DEFECT. SO THE MONEY I JUST INVESTED INTO THIS CAR IS NOW A DONATION. AND I EITHER FIND A NEW CAR, BUY A NEW ENGINE OR REBUILD THE ENGINE. ALL FOR A PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA SOO UNPROFESSIONALLY HANDLED AND REFUSED TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF. NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAR COMPANIES KEEP SECRETS FROM THE PUBLIC BUT I'M SURE ONE THAT DOESN'T GIVE ONE IOTA OF A F!?@ ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS WOULD ALLOW SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO PASS BY WITHOUT RECTIFYING THE ISSUE AND MAKING IT RIGHT.

PLATE OVER BACK HATCH JUST BELOW THIRD BRAKE LIGHT DETACHES & HANGS BY A CABLE. IT SWINGS WHILE DRIVING & SCRATCHES THE BOTTOM OF THE HATCH & BACK FENDER. IF CABLE BREAKS WHILE DRIVING IT WILL BECOME AIRBORNE. THE HATCH PLATE HOOKS SNAPPED OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY & I WAS OPENING THE HATCH. NOW THAT IT'S BROKE OFF THE CAR IT SWINGS WHILE DRIVING HANGING BY A CABLE. I HAVE TO KEEP IT TAPED.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
